How do you break free from a “rut” and shift to a state where you’re continuously improving in every area of life?   This episode is sure to open your eyes and let you walk away with some amazing insights.   In it, I interview one of our long-time clients, Kevin Timms, and he takes us through his journey at JCF coaching.   As you’ll learn, Kevin was doing pretty decent in business… but he felt like he wasn’t capable of growing or moving forward.   He was stressed, anxious, and weary of pursuing bigger opportunities.    In the face of challenges, Kevin found himself consistently retreating to what was “comfortable”... but that led to always feeling like he was just struggling to keep his head above water.   Finally, in a desperate moment, Kevin convinced himself “there has to be a better way.”   He proceeded to reach out to me (he’d been following for a little while) and we started working with him.   This episode shares his journey, and his biggest learning lessons along the way including: His new “base level” mentality that’s broken the continuous cycle of highs and lows in business and personal life. It’s easy to assume that people who seem to have it all in life are happy. Their careers are running well, they’re making good money. They’re fit as a fiddle, looking jacked and shredded. They have a good group of friends. What more could they ask for, right? But the reality is not all of them can honestly say that they’re happy Their lives may be looking perfect on the outside, but they‘re empty, lonely and unfulfilled on the inside.  They can afford to do fun things, and own cool stuff but the kind of happiness these things bring are short lived.  They still come home to that dark and lonely place they woke up from this morning.  They have a huge gaping hole inside of them that they don’t know how to fill. Many of us need a dose of motivation first before getting into action. When we want to lose fat and live healthy, we would take pre-workouts and watch motivational videos on social media. When we want to reach success in our careers, we watch success stories and inspirational talks from successful people, and look forward to rewards. We do anything just to get our blood pumping and feel the high of being motivated. It helps us dominate and perform very well. But what happens when that high is over? Whenever we used to get asked as kids what we want to be when we grow up, we were quick to respond with answers– a soldier, a policeman, a doctor, or even a rich businessman. But as we grow older, we become unsure of the path we should take. We don’t know what we want anymore. We’re stuck living in the gray area because we haven’t found our purpose. We have doubts and what-ifs constantly circling in our heads. We’re keeping busy doing everything and anything. But we’re not clear on where we want to go. We stay busy because that’s what we thought men are supposed to do. We hate a boring and quiet life, but have you ever thought that a boring life could be the best life you’ll live? Do you sometimes wish that everything in your life will  just go perfectly, and you won’t have to worry about a single thing?  This is the reality that we have to live with – whether we like it or not, life will never go easy on us. When times get tough, many of us face the challenges head on. But others choose to look for an escape. And they usually find it by getting drunk and stoned. They lose control and find themselves craving for it all the time. And they will keep on doing it no matter how terrible the consequences are. When we wake up every morning, we are faced with options, and it’s totally up to us what choice we’re going to make. It’s so easy to just stay in bed, waste time, and let the day pass by. But do we really want that for ourselves? To settle with what little we have and never strive for more? To let the fear of taking risks and failure take over our lives and stop us from becoming high performance? If we want more in life, we have to work for it. We have to go after the things we want. We have to take risks and we shouldn't be afraid of failures. Living life with regrets is not in the cards for me. I worked hard and smart to be where I am right now. Taking a break now and then is an absolute must.  We need it.  But if we’re indulging a little longer than we should, and a little too often– that’s the time when it becomes counterproductive. The funny thing here is that whenever we slack a little bit too much, chances are we are fully aware of it.  Yet we allow ourselves to stay in these blackholes, because they’re comforting. They make us happy, they take us away from our problems and responsibilities. We’re in a dream that we don’t want to wake up. That, my friend, is procrastination.  No matter how smart or educated we are, if we happen to be major procrastinators, we’ll never get to where we want to be. To where we DESERVE to be. In this digital age we live in, there is an enemy that hides beneath the surface of our screens.  It is an enemy that silently damages our health, and is overlooked by the millions of things we need to get done in our everyday lives. Daniel Ebbett is the CEO and founder of BlockBlueLight. He had a career in IT for many years, where his constant exposure to blue light was wearing him down, and ruining his progress. He couldn’t seem to get rid of his migraines, he developed insomnia, he couldn’t concentrate on what he’s doing.  He was barely performing at his peak.  His frustrations on the lack of solutions in the market inspired him to come up with a product that would help a lot of people going through the same problems as he once long did.  In this episode, we’ll learn from Daniel about the harmful effects that blue light does to our health and our mood. Do you sometimes secretly feel restless, and uncomfortable even if life is going great? No matter how good your career or business has been doing, your relationships are going, how big your bank account is getting.. Running multiple successful businesses is not an easy job. It will take some time but it’s totally possible if you do it right. It didn’t happen overnight for Dan Henderson, either.
