Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. Today one of my sales team, one of the sales guys was on the phone with a potential client. He was talking to him about switching over and hiring us for some lead generation for him and some of the services that we offer. He was asking the client, “So Mr. Prospect, how much have you set aside for online lead generation?” He said, “Well, I’ve got about $700 or so”, and that’s a little bit less of what we usually charge. We usually charge about $2000 a month. That’s our starting point, plus additional budget. He only has about $700 to $800 a month. My guy wasn’t sure how to handle that, that’s why I want to make this recording not just for you but also for him […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. Today’s Topic is Related to Yesterday’s Podcast It’s interesting, after yesterday’s podcast, I’ve gotten a number of emails. People are asking me about the new book and they can’t wait to get it. I appreciate the support. I also have a couple of questions people are asking me about – how I’ve already written so many books, how do you write a book, what’s my process like and could I share that on the podcast? I think it’s a very, very interesting topic. Today I want to give you a few tips on writing. That’s interesting because it’s kind of ironic that I’m sharing writing tips with you because I never considered myself as a writer, as funny as that sounds. Although I’ve been a copywriter, I still write […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. You noticed that I stopped using a sign-off from the last few episodes. Again, because I’m not super happy with what we have at this point. So I’m like, fuck it, I’m not even going to have a sign-off until I can think of something very, very good. If you have an idea, let me know. Go to www.highticketgroup.com if you can come up with a killer sign-off for this podcast, something that resonates with you, I would definitely use it. I would definitely take your advice, test it and see how people like it. I am Planning on Writing a New Book Anyway, I want to share with you something that’s interesting. I just finished a meeting with my friend Mario. Mario is a very, very successful business […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. One Quick Podcast Before I Head Out to a Concert I’m actually almost getting ready to go out the door but I want to take a minute to make this make this quick recording. I’m actually on my way, I’ll be seeing Lady Gaga’s concert with Jenny, my wife. I always love concerts. I love live performances and shows. Whenever I’m travelling, when I go to NY, when I go to Vegas, I always want to make some time and watch shows. I think partially because as a speaker, I see that to be a good speaker, you need showmanship. Not just a speaker. Because there are speakers out there that tell stories – they’re educational but they’re fucking boring. Nobody wants to listen to them. So you want to […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor.  Now, you’ll see that a lot of my students dress very, very well. One of the things I teach them is to dress to impress. As a coach, as a consultant, a lot of the BS that I hear from them is, “Oh well, I work from home and I don’t have to dress that well and they don’t see me anyway.” Or, “I do social media work. I do digital marketing. I want to dress casual.” All these BS. And you’ll notice if you watch my YouTube videos, in a business setting, I almost always dress in business. I have a saying that You Can’t Get Rich Looking Poor. You can’t get rich looking poor. Now, you might say, I know if you’re listening to this that you […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor.  It’s My Day Off Today and I’ll be Watching Game of Thrones. Today I’m actually taking my day off and this is actually my only “work” thing that I’m doing, recording this episode of the show. It’s interesting because today, what I probably am going to do is watch a couple of episodes of Game of Thrones, the new season is now being released. I think now a number of episodes have accumulated. I love Game of Thrones. I love the show. If you’re a fan – you probably are. A lot of people are fans of the show. Say hi. Go to my Facebook group and say, “Hey! Dan, I watch Game of Thrones too!” So today, that’s probably what I’m going to do, take a day off. It’s […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. Today I want to share with you something that’s very near and dear to my heart. It’s a concept I’ve learned from my mentor. My very first mentor, his name is Allan Jacks. Allan, what I learned from him, at that time he had this concept – although from my perspective, I think Allan is a marketing genius. He’s also a very deep, deep thinker. He’s a business philosopher for sure. He’s my very first mentor and he taught me about business, marketing, copy writing and how business works. Unfortunately, later in his years, he had Parkinson’s disease and that affected his ability to work. But he’s always been thinking of a concept of writing a book. He came up with a concept called The Q Solution, in which […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. This is an interesting question from Jenny Wood from my High-Ticket Facebook group. It’s not so much as a high-ticket question but I think it’s an interesting question to answer on this podcast. It would also give you a little perspective on how I see some of these things. So I’m going to read the question out loud. “In one of Dan’s YouTube videos, he talks about a woman about traction for her nearly developed online game and approaching the big players for partnerships and basically leveraged their capital to let her get game out there. I’m in a similar position. As a sideline business, I’ve developed a fun, simple product that teaches children healthy habits along with life and educational skills such as strategy, data management and math. Having […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. How Do You Get Booked on Podcast Interviews? Now I just literally got off the phone with John from Entrepreneurs on Fire. If you’re familiar with the show on podcast, it’s one of the popular podcasts on iTunes in the world. John has millions and millions of listeners. I’m honored to be on his show. Once I’ve gone off the show, I turned off my recorder and I’ve having this conversation with you. I do get people asking me, “Dan, how do I get booked on podcasts? How do I get booked on these shows?” The answer is something more simple than you might think. First of all, you have to let people know on your website or some sort that you do give interviews. I give interviews, on […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. In a couple of weeks, I’ll be speaking at JVology Live in Vancouver. I’ll be a guest speaker. It’s a 3-day event and my friend Jay, he’s going to talk about how to do joint ventures and things like that. So I thought it would be an interesting topic to kind of discuss and share with you a little bit about how joint venture works and how you can apply this powerful marketing strategy in your consulting and coaching business. What are Joint Ventures? Now, when it comes to joint ventures, people might think of, “Well, does that mean that we’re getting into a business partnership?” Not necessarily. Joint ventures is nothing more than two parties coming together and doing a deal. So you see this a lot in […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. This is a question from Zang White. “Hi Dan. After I’ve watched one of your videos, I’ve decided to raise my copy writing prices to $10K. I’ve also decided to narrow my scope to focus only on service investors. Was there a period of time where you focused on one niche as a copywriter?” Now, if you don’t know, my career in this whole consulting world actually started out as a copywriter. So at the time, after I’ve learned from my mentor for a year, Allan – he taught me marketing, he taught me copy writing and how to write copy. Basically then, I started my one-man advertising agency. And from there, I was working with clients and I was trying to get clients. At first I was charging […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. Join My High Ticket Group And here’s another question from Tim, also from my Facebook group. By the way, if you haven’t joined my Facebook group, you should. You can go to www.highticketgroup.com, it will direct you to Facebook. We have a group of just amazing, amazing people. There are a lot of coaches, consultants and service professionals in that group. I think you’ll find a lot of like-minded people there and they’re all very highly engaged and willing to help. I think in this journey of growing your consulting and coaching business, it’s always nice to have a group that you can bounce ideas off. And sometimes if the question is good, that’s where I take the question from and answer on this podcast. So if you have […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. Now here’s a great question from Bruno. “Dan, can you share some insights about the process of finding the ideal customer?” Now, this is a huge topic. I can spend probably 100 episodes talking about this, since each episode is only 5-10 minutes long. But today I want to share with you something that’s pretty important. I see a lot of coaches, consultants, business owners and service providers that they make this mistake. They are not very clear who they serve. Although they might think they’re clear but they’re actually not very clear. They do not have a lot of clarity when it comes to who the ideal client is. The problem is, if you’re not sure who your ideal client is, then it’s very difficult for you to target […]
Hey, welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. Today I’m going to answer a question from AJ from my Facebook group. AJ, if you’re listening to this, I’m going to answer your question. It’s a pretty long question but I’ll read it out loud. “Hey Dan, you’ve mentioned that you’re not a fan of sending proposals. Ideally, you want to get a qualified prospect on the phone and close him on the spot. I can see why. What about this common scenario: Phone call goes perfect and they’re a perfect match for your service. Fully qualified too. A dream client. At the end, they ask you if they have some kind of pricing table or details you can email them to look over, not a proposal per se. My question is this, for the more sophisticated buyer-type […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. Now recently, I have had the privilege of going to Portland which is a 5-6 hour drive from Vancouver to train with a Jeet Kune Do instructor. For those who don’t know who are listening to this show, I am a huge fan of Bruce Lee and I’ve been studying Bruce Lee’s martial arts Jeet Kune Do which is as defined, as a way of the intercepting fists for a number of years now. I’ve studied with two of Bruce Lee’s original students, Kat Wong and Joe Lewis. And as a martial artist and if you follow my YouTube channel, you’ll see I’ve been uploading the different types of martial arts videos recently to my channel, just showing a different aspect of what I do and some of my […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. The Dream 100 List Not all sales are created equal. I was having a conversation with my students and he was sharing with me how he was sharing with a Dream 100 List – ideal clients that he wants. He’s going to cold call them, he’s going to cold email them and try to get some business for his digital marketing services. I was talking with him about the idea that not all sales are created equal. First of all, that approach might have worked many, many years ago. And a lot of successful companies would cold call and use cold prospecting and outbound marketing to scale their business. And it works to a degree and it works well for certain industries. But in this case with the people […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. Yesterday, I was talking about client red flags. 7 warning signs of bad clients – clients from hell. This is part 2. Warning Sign #5: People Who Want To Be Rescued By You The fifth warning sign that people should pay attention to is, people looking for you to rescue them. That they are in such a desperate situation, and they would tell you, “Oh man. This is it. This is my last chance. I’ve tried everything. None of them worked.” And they’re looking at you to perform some kind of miracle that if you just wave that magic wand, all their problems will go away. Now be honest with me. Have you ever done this before? Someone was looking for you to rescue them and you want to […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. Client Red Flags – 7 Warning Signs of a Bad Client Now this is Part 1 of the series. Why do I need to talk about this? Because I think one of the biggest, biggest, biggest mistakes that consultants and coaches and service providers make is they take on just anybody. Anybody that even remotely fits their client profile or indicates that they’re willing to spend money. Consultants and coaches, they just jump on to this person. “Oh yeah, great, I can sign you up. Let’s do this. Let’s get started,” instead of being selective. I can tell you one of my secret sauce in terms of building a successful consulting and coaching business is client selection. The name of this game is client selection. Now why is that? […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. The Refund from Japan Now just yesterday, I got a PayPal notification regarding a refund of $256. So someone was refunding me 256 bucks, US. I thought, “That was interesting. Where did this come from?” So I opened the email. It is from a vendor from eBay. A couple of days ago, I bought a bunch of these collectible, rare, Bruce Lee kind of out-of-print magazines from this particular vendor. I bought a dozen of them and it was $500 or $600 or so. And after I bought the magazines, because I bought it separately – if you ever buy anything from eBay, you know when you add to your cart, you buy each item separately. So I bought these, a dozen magazines from this vendor, actually from Japan, […]
Welcome to another episode of High Ticket Sales Secrets. This is Dan Lok – your host, your guide and your mentor. A Conversation with Dan Peña, My Mentor Many years ago, I was having a conversation with my mentor, the 50 Billion Dollar Man, Dan Peña and Dan asked me a question. He said, “Dan, what do you think is the number one quality of a successful entrepreneur?” And I thought for a second, “Hmm.” And I replied, “Great idea. They must have a great idea.” He said, “No.” “Hmm. They must be a visionary.” He said, “No.” “They must be a great leader. They know how to put together a team to accomplish the goals.” He said, “No.” “Ah, I know! The ability to sell.” He said, “No.” And I kept on and on and on and on for like five minutes and he said, “All those qualities are […]
