This week's episode was a raw, real and organic one. I have had to take time to focus on my physical health, and in the process of this, have had a few thoughts I wanted to share. We talk about perfectionism, progress, and small steps to take when your cup feels pretty empty. Perfection does not exist, but progress does. And finding little moments of self-love are so important, even more so when it feels you don't have the time. Instagram: higher_pod Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Statistically, if you have OCD, you are more likely to suffer from an eating disorder - and vice versa. Having knowledge of this can be helpful to understand the driver behind disordered eating in order to overcome it, and make food more of an enjoyment than an obsession. You are not alone.https://www.beateatingdisorders.org.uk/24/7 SMS: Text SHOUT to 85258Treatment and support for eating disordersMindhttps://www.mind.org.uk › eating-problems › treatment... Episode 19: Resilience

Episode 19: Resilience

2024-02-2928:21

Resilience is hailed as one of the pillars of personal development, but what does it actually mean? Resilience is the ability to remain calm in the face of adversity, in whatever sense. This can be hard for people who are perfectionists, empaths or simply tired! Overwhelm is so common in our society and is almost normalised to be a part of the "hustle". We've all heard: "can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen" - as if staying and getting burnt is a badge of honour...All of this to say, building resilience to difficult situations is a fantastic skill we build as we grow, but it's important to recognise where these feelings come from. As an empath, someone who feels deeply, it can add that extra challenge to situations too. This week, I discuss resilience as an act of self-love and what you can do to help build it.Please rate & review!Instagram: @aselflovestorypod Hosted on Acast. This week's episode/pep talk talks about the moments of loneliness after working on yourself. Personal development is one of the best things you can do, but no one seems to really talk about the things you (voluntarily) lose along the way. No longer will you be able to participate in low vibe friendships, or to do things that sacrifice your own peace for others. When we invest in ourselves, we see all the times we SHRANK ourselves to fit in a room with smaller minded people. Two things can be true: you can be deeply thankful for good memories with people, and also be ready to remove them from your life. No one looks back at the end of their life, wishing they'd been more average and tried less. No one! Let that drive you, and lean into the loneliness - trusting that it is actually self-prescribed solicitude and peace. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Valentine's is a few days away at the time of publishing, which can fill many with a sense of dread. But... why? Why should we have to be in a romantic relationship to celebrate love?Love is so much more than dating. However, a recent study shows that on average we spend up to SIXTY years with our partner, right up until death. Literally until death do us part. So, why am I talking about this? Well... given that, be so thankful that you have clarity to know you have a right to be choosy about who you spend literal *decades* with. Enjoy this Valentine's alone, show yourself love, your family love and your friends love. Make the most of this time: you don't know how long it will last! I also discuss how to be more intentional on Valentine's if you do have a partner. You will never, ever regret investing time in yourself and stepping out of your comfort zone. Never. Hosted on Acast. What if I told you there was a simple trick that could literally transform the way you organise and live your life? How to live with your period instead of in spite of it. Our 24 hour days and 9-5 week is not built around our cycles as women or people who menstruate. The world literally isn't structured in a way that supports our natural cycles. However, knowledge is power - knowing your own seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter in the month allows you to delegate important tasks for times when you have more energy. This is a brief run-through of living with your cycle, the power that you have from embracing life as a cyclical being and enjoying life more freely!Learn more here:Unlocking the Power of Cyclical Living - Vix AndertonVix Andertonhttps://vixanderton.com › blog › cyclical-living-the-key-...A Guide to Cyclical LivingAncient + Bravehttps://ancientandbrave.earth › blogs › news › a-guide...Cyclical living. Internalised misogyny is something so insidious yet prominent in our every day. Women can often have perceived views of other women shaped by an old-fashioned but deeply sexist standard. So, what does internalised misogyny actually look like? It can show up in many ways. Listen to this week's episode to find out how! Only by learning what needs changed can we make the change. This week is fully inspired by one of my favourite authors, Mel Robbins. An episode of her podcast discussed why having a circle that spends their time talking about other people is so detrimental to not only personal growth but our mental health. We have all been guilty of it, but ultimately gossiping comes from a place of deep insecurity, low self-esteem and a desire to belong somewhere. However, we need to take responsibility for how we discuss other people. And guess what? The research shows it only hurts our own mental health. Is that what you want to be? Where you want to focus your energy? I definitely don't.
