Welcome back everyone, to the Hike’s Peak podcast, thank you for coming back to the mountain! Week 5 is in the books, and some teams are sitting prettier than others. To kick us off, we’re going to look at a historic week for Mountain West quarterbacks, and what that means for the rest of the season. Then, we’re taking a few teams to the doctor’s office to diagnose what’s going on with them, good or bad! The squads in question are preseason favorites Colorado State and San Jose State, who both have only one win at this point, as well as New Mexico, who continues to look locked in as they won the Rio Grande Rivalry in front of their first sold out home crowd since 2007. After that, we’ll spend some time talking about some rumors that linked UNLV head coach Dan Mullen to the recently-vacated Arkansas job, and whether or not I believe them. Welcome back, everyone, to the Hike’s Peak podcast, thank you for coming back to the mountain! Week 4 was full of the unexpected, with the biggest win of the week coming courtesy of San Diego State! We’ll break down how they pulled it off, and discuss whether or not they are legit contenders in the Mountain West after that breakout performance. We’ll also go over the battle for the Golden Screwdriver, which Fresno State took from Hawaii in dramatic fashion, as well as talking about the bad times continuing in Fort Collins. Colorado State comes up a 2 point conversion short against UTSA, and Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi has officially been benched going forward. We’ll talk about the loss, the encouraging relief appearance from new starter Jackson Brousseau, and the most pressing question, how can Jay Norvell save his job at this point? Of course, we’ll also hand out this week’s player of the week award, and we’ll end the show with a mammoth opportunity for Utah State, as they travel to Nashville to take on ranked Vanderbilt, with a chance to jump into the college football playoff race. Welcome back everyone, to the Hike’s Peak podcast, thank you for coming back to the mountain! The second full week of the season was much kinder to the Mountain West than the first, with the conference combining for an 8 and 3 record this weekend! By far, the two biggest wins came courtesy of UNLV, who made a statement against Nico Iamaleava and UCLA, and Fresno State, who came out on top of a wild contest against Oregon State in Corvallis. We’ll break down both of those performances, complete with the biggest takeaways, and then we’ll switch gears, because not all wins are necessarily positive ones. We’ll go over Colorado State’s near-death experience against in-state FCS school Northern Colorado, as well as Nevada pulling a rabbit out of a hat to beat Sacramento State. Both contests have a lot of things to pull apart as to what went wrong, so excited for that part of the show. To end the show, we’ll hand out our second Player of the Week award, and I’ll tell you the three can’t miss games for week three. The 2025 college football season is fully underway, with one of the more interesting week ones in recent memory going down. We’ll also discuss who had the biggest win of the weekend, and which team that ultimately lost gained the most respect!
