Scott and Jon are back together and this episode is the first in a brand new season of the Holy Heretics podcast. In this episode, Scott and Jon chat about the ironies of Good Friday, including: pandemics, fear, existential dread, and all of those warm fuzzies. A constant theme throughout this episode is the idea how suffering and crisis reveals the truth that theology is mostly based on experience. Listen, enjoy, and welcome back to the journey! We welcome the real Dr Phil back to the Holy Heretics podcast to talk about not just crossing the bridge but helping to build the new world. www.phillipnikao.com Recognized as a Passionate Voice of Oneness, Reason, and Relevance, Dr. Nikao is blazing new trails in the vast world of business, success, psychology, and science-based spirituality. In his raw and compelling style, he has evolved from the corporate desk to entrepreneur, from institutionalized religion to transformational practicality, from following the crowd to leading it. Dr. Nikao believes that within every person is a spark of genius, creativity, and passion. His pursuit in life is laser focused on connecting people to that spark in consciousness and manifest reality. Along the way, he has discovered that the conventional systems of change and growth are often severely lacking, and mediocre at best. So Dr. Nikao has taken the road less traveled, often at great personal sacrifice, to help pave the high road of empowered living, impactful prosperity, and authentic success. Growing up in an Amish home set the stage for Dr. Nikao’s life-journey, experiencing early in life the difficulty and pain of “breaking out”, yet the reward and joy of life transformation. With Degrees in both religion and neuroscience, and his Doctorate in Psychology, Dr. Nikao continues to lead and study from a perspective of finding practical solutions to life’s complexity. His passion for life-transformation quickly led to public speaking early in life, which in turn brought Nikao face-to-face with the incredible need for personal life-coaching, a real and touchable process that brings practicality to information. In 1999, Dr. Nikao developed and implemented a highly successful Life Coaching team, and yet again, built bridges between the mass audiences in his public speaking career with the personalization of life-coaching. In his journey, he has spoken before thousands, even sharing the stage with leaders like Zig Ziglar, Rudolph Guliani, and Margaret Thatcher. He has traveled to other countries, spoken and lectured in high schools and colleges, and is a confidant to business and spiritual leaders across the country. While my personal life is between me, Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos, here are some highlights from my professional life: I was born on April 26, 1951 and circumcised eight days later. (OK, that was personal.) I earned rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion in 1981, and a PH.D. in religion from Union Graduate School in 1985. Over the past forty years I’ve been a USAF chaplain, a congregational rabbi, a business consultant, a university professor, and an author of three dozen books on religion and spirituality. In 2010 I was initiated into the Ramakrishna Order of Vedanta Hinduism by Swami Swahananda, and became a 32° Scottish Rite Mason (KCCH). Several years later I founded the Order of the Holy Rascal, and joined another secret society, The Grand Lodge of All Beings. I currently co-direct the One River Foundation (oneriverfoundation.org), write the “Roadside Assistance for the Spiritual Traveler” column for Spirituality & Health Magazine and host the magazine’s podcast “Essential Conversations with Rabbi Rami (spiritualityhealth.com). And through it all I have wrestled with my addiction to food. Today we talk with the creator and host of the grounded presence podcast Daniel Powell. Hi, I'm Daniel Powell, author of: Join me as I explore: Authentic Identity, Deeper Community, & Spiritual Evolution I believe life isn't really lived unless you are in deep community, being the most authentic version of yourself, and connecting to the world in a spiritual way. It sounds peaceful and serene but it's not easy to pursue these type of deep connections. It is, however, very rewarding and deeply fulfilling. I don't have the answers or a neatly organized 5 step program that will explain how to create and maintain inner, external, and spiritual connectedness. I simply have a wholistic longing to delve deeper into these spaces. Through this blog I'll share stories, experiences, and thoughts about: unearthing your most authentic identity, pursuing more depth in community, and the process of spiritual evolution. I do this in hopes of encouraging those of you that are seeking a similar deep connection to the self and the world. https://www.thegroundedpresence.com/ CONNECT WITH AND SUPPORT THE HOLY HERETICS DONATE www.patreon.com/holyheretics FOLLOW THE HOLY HERETICS... www.twitter.com/holyheretics www.instagram.com/theholyheretics Email: theholyheretics@gmail.com DON'T FORGET...
