Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we discuss the current state of the NL Wild Card race. The Mets endured an eight-game losing streak, but when we recorded this on Monday night, they were still in playoff position with their playoff odds having jumped from 70% to 80% just from Sunday’s walk-off win alone. We take a look at the remaining schedules of all the teams chasing them and try to remember that time and the odds are on our side. But the Mets still have to start playing better.  We wrap things up as we always do with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Home Run Applesauce podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. Welcome to Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World Series, the new/old favorite from Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. This week, Chris and Brian lament one of the worst weeks in recent Mets memory, talk about who to blame for the late season swoon, and try to not lose all hope.  Chris’s Music Pick: Garrett T. Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by wondering whether the Mets will even make the playoffs at this point. Because they sure aren’t playing like a playoff team right now, despite Brandon Sproat being the latest successful rookie pitching debut. We also cover the latest injury updates (Reed Garrett is back, but Tylor Megill sadly will not be), pay tribute to Davey Johnson, and discuss Jacob deGrom’s upcoming return to Citi Field.  Next, we talk about accusations of misconduct against women against at least eight men in the Tigers organization, as reported in The Athletic. The Tigers aren’t the only organization to disgrace themselves this week; the Angels did not cover themselves in glory either. We also briefly touch on the Native Nations baseball program and viral sensation “Phillies Karen.” Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. It’s an extra special one this week! Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. We’ve had numerous scheduling snafus for the last month or so, but Thomas and Lukas finally got things lined up just in time to talk promotions. After briefly debating which pitcher debut of the last 15 years was most electric (don’t sleep on Steven Matz), it’s time to talk about what’s actually going on in the season. We have a number of new hitters in Double-A and in Triple-A. We also take the time to discuss the post-draft debuts; spoiler alert, there isn’t much to talk about there aside from some hand-wringing over Mitch Voit’s zone-contact rate. Oh right, we also had the major league debuts to discuss. Sproat, Tong, and McLean have all shown various levels of exciting stuff. If this season really is remembered as a disappointment for the major league results, we should still all be able to look back on the development gains made by these arms and consider that a big win for 2025. Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by discussing this up-and-down week of Mets baseball. The Mets—especially Juan Soto—are hitting a whole lot right now, which is great! The pitching situation is less great, but Nolan McLean is a revelation and Jonah Tong—in addition to being a delight—had a successful major league debut as well. We also talk about Citi Field being a house of horrors for the Phillies, parabolic mics being the new grimace, and the unfortunate slew of injury updates from the past few days.  Next, we gush with excitement about Dollars for Dingers 2025 and the tryouts for the Women’s Professional Baseball League, which took place last week in DC.  Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Home Run Applesauce podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. Grace is finally back after being felled by a horrific cough, and she has a lot to catch up with. The Mets trade deadline was well done, but not all the pieces have worked out as well as one would've hoped. But they've also relied on some of their prospects to help them as they march towards a hopeful playoff run. Next, Grace discusses the state of the rest of the league. It feels a little more even this year, with more teams in the hunt and less dominant teams. There's also some interesting decisions for voters in the American League MVP race and the National League Cy Young race. Finally, Grace talks about a movie minute that really impressed her from this year, and the balancing act it achieves.Follow us on Twitter/X @FIBPod, on Instagram @FlushingisBurningPod, and email us at flushingisburning@gmail.com! Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, the Mets are finally playing a little bit better, but they still aren’t getting great results. We talk about Mark Vientos and Brett Baty heating up, finally getting some quality starts from the pitchers, and the mess that is Ryan Helsley and the Mets’ bullpen. We also talk about the latest injuries that have befallen the Mets—Frankie Montas, Francisco Alvarez, and Reed Garrett.  Next, we officially launch Dollars for Dingers 2025, where our community raises money to benefit survivors of domestic violence for every Mets home run in the month of September. You can make a pledge using our Google Sheet and you can join us for our in-person raffle event at Lion’s Head Tavern on September 20th at 2:00pm. All proceeds benefit the National Domestic Violence Hotline. In the second half of the show, we discuss the Yankees drafting a player who committed a hate crime and the Rockies being eliminated from playoff contention in August. This week, three of the five co-hosts of A Pod of Their Own and Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World Series were unavailable for fun reasons, so Allison McCague and Brian Salvatore decided to combine their shows into one! The Mets are in a terrible stretch, one that may be the worst performance by the best team on paper in many, many years. Brian and Allison discuss ways the team can attempt to improve, whether David Stearns should be allowed to cook without judgment, and as always, recommend some records and contribute Walk-Off Wins. Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. After a 3 week break and some vacation time, we’re back to break down what was a very interesting trade deadline around the league. There are definitely some teams that were smart…and some teams that were not. We can’t help but go on for a bit about some of the “crazier” deals that went down before we finally get to the Mets. As for what the Mets did, we’re generally pretty big fans. By and large, they traded a set of replaceable assets for significant upgrades. Even if they made marginal overpays in a vacuum, the team can leverage their pitching development apparatus to magic up another set of prospects to trade in the future. There’s an argument that another bat or a SP would’ve helped, but it’s difficult to speculate on conversations we don’t know much about. However, their play over the past week or so still leaves lingering concerns.   We also talk about the more notable trades that happened across the league, including the improvements the NL East rival Phillies made, the Twins dismantling their team, and AJ Preller acting drunk again.  Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Home Run Applesauce podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. pretty enjoyable, but the change in volume depending on who is speaking makes it almost unlistenable.
