Welcome to season 6, episode 14 of Horror Hill! I’m your host Erik Peabody, and I’m really excited about this one. Tonight’s tale comes to us from the very same author who wrote episode 12’s story- The Whaler’s Song. Our fear for the week rises to the great top of Raiders Hill in Radnorshire, where there sits a solitary stone that some believe resembles a weeping figure. According to folklore, the shadow it casts as the sun goes down points the way to a cave of hidden treasure. Whether the stone figure weeps because it was never able to find this bounty, or because it grieves some greater loss, nobody knows, though of course there are stories to accommodate both possibilities. Welcome to Season 5, Episode 20. I’m your host, Jason Hill, and I won’t waste anytime this week, I think we’re all pretty excited about part 2 of this incredible story. Again, this story, though a work of fiction, very artfully depicts the realities of addiction, so if you are early on in recovery, going through a period of vulnerability or feel that you may be be better off just not being reminded of your struggles, please be aware, this story is very well observed. That said, recovery is like grieving: no two people do it alike and, if someone decides that maybe it’d be best if they weren’t reminded of the experience right now, that is okay. Let’s try to be sensitive in the comments, please. Shall we? Jason Hill's Horror Hill. Does this not need Jason Hill? I'm hoping there's nothing wrong with Jason which precludes his return, but the sooner he's back the better for me. I sure do miss him.

Ray Cluley is one badass story teller, I heard one of his stories on Pseudopod, laughed my ass off, loved it and have been seeking his stories ever since, Anthology collection's and such, great story as always, you guys set the standard. By the bye, I just recently finished listening to "The Vessel", and you guys gave an awesome performance and a really cool story, really could have gone on indefinitely, I was overwrought with sorrow when it ended. THIS, RIGHT HERE will NOT end, though....... right??!?!! ( And the band played on)

Ummm, I think you forgot the story portion of that story. Or perhaps you posted it to the wrong show. I'm thinking you actually meant to post this on the Nothing Much Happens podcast since it's dedicated to pointless, boring, very un-scary stories that you can fall asleep to.

This is the first negative comment I have EVER left, because this show is awesome, and I love it, and the stories are (damn near) always good. However I am finding it really hard to understand what that story even said ( was it meant to show the complete absence of meaning in existence, or the inevitable lack of any answers to the myriad question's in life, the fact we will never know why??), and I know I'm not the only one wondering what, in the name of Lovecraft, does that have to do with horror??

off topic. ... today I realize there will b no more Jason Hill. I spent years going back searching and listening to everything (even the on-going side goofy stories) containing Jason Hill narrations. His voice, intonation, quirks, and extraordinary ability to read a story, to tell a story, had become my barbed-wire holding me together. his ability to relay the decline into insanity, then full blown madness will never be matched.. I listen to over and over, you feel it! Nothing in life brings simple joy anymore, for a looooong time, except seeing the little number 1 tagging the horror hill icon. I am at my very bottom lately dragging myself to work, bed and work, and to hear the new fella say he is the new host... it feels like, (if I was worth the trouble) the universe is poking me personally, to finally b crushed. man, I am going to miss him. I even bought the books on audible he narrated. had thought about going to a convention thingy they talk about just to personally give a hats off to him. fucking damn it man. now I gotta get over this too. haha (kinda, not really) Anyway, the not so new fella is good, nothing personal against his ability, he is good... just needed to have my despair shared.

Oh for the halcyon days of season 1. The oration, as ever, is superb. Not sure I'm taking to the addition of unnecessary sound effects, more of a distraction than anything. I didn't even make it too the end of this episode, which is a first. I'll go back and try again later..

The intro music made me cringe and almost made me walk the f away… immediately. That was horrible. You can’t stay calm and listen to a good story with such an “intense” intro. If you have PTSD or are sensitive to blasting music, hold out. The stories are good, the intro music SUCKS. It’s intensity doesn’t match the story to come.
