Creep 2 (2017) feat. Brooke Solomon

Log onto 'Encounters' and dust off your Peachfuzz mask because we're talking Creep 2 (2017). Along for the ride is The Queer Quadrant co-host Brooke Solomon, who finds plenty to appreciate in a sequel that is more complex than its predecessor. Plus: Praise for both Duplass and bisexual co-star Desiree Akhavan, debating male vs female nudity, dismissing claims that Sara is "dumb", Coppola wine, and speculation about Shudder's The Creep Tapes Questions? The Thirteenth Guest (1932) feat. Amanda Jane Stern

Prepare to get "potted" because we're discussing not just any murder, but a good murder in Albert Ray's confusing as all get-out 1932 murder mystery comedy The Thirteenth Guest! Tagging in for the conversation is Amanda Jane Stern, the co-writer/star of the new psychosexual thriller Perfectly Good Moment. Join us as we try to figure out just what the hell is going on in this convoluted little film, which features an early Ginger Rogers performance (in a dual role, no less!). From electrified telephones to mysterious rooms without trap doors, there's just too much crammed into this film's extremely brief 69-minute runtime for it to make any kind of sense. Plus: an absolutely horrifying colorized version of the film, a brother and his "roommate," and souls that look like the inside of vinegar bottles. Oh, and who in the hell is the titular thirteenth guest??? Questions? Comments? Snark? A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

For our final week of Gay Divas and Anniversaries, we're revisiting Wes Craven's iconic 1984 franchise starter, A Nightmare on Elm Street for its 40th anniversary. From discussions about why Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) is *the* Final Girl to Fred(dy) Krueger's challenging backstory to the film's financial issues, this is the perfect capper to our two month theme. Plus: Sta Awake & a carafe full of coffee, the possibility of a new entry in the series, Marge's ties to Black Christmas' Mrs. Mack, and NoES' perfect homage to The Shining. This film truly has it all! Questions? Comments? Snark? What happens when Saw meets a queer rape/revenge? You get Dima Barch's 2023 horror short, The Power of the Strike! C/W: sexual assault. Death Becomes Her (1992)

Spoon that icing out of the can and get ready for a lot of time jumps because "it" is awake in Robert Zemeckis' Death Becomes Her (1992). It's a smorgasbord of bitchery and high fashion in this delectable black comedy. Join us as we marvel at the Oscar-winning special effects that are anything but "cheap" in this hilarious film starring two of Hollywood's greatest actresses (Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn) and a scene-stealing Bruce Willis. Plus: fat suits, rock-like tits, floating nuns, beekeeper couture, and sex. Sex. Sex. En garde, bitches! Questions? Comments? Snark? Micro Queers: Livescreamers (2023)

Beware of dark web games and toxic workplaces because we're checking out Michelle Iannantuono's Livescreamers (2023). There's a lot to like about this, from gaming Easter Eggs to big topic issues in gaming and online environments. A few plot beats don't entirely work for us, but it's easy to forgive that when gamers are being sprayed with blood! Questions? Comments? Snark? Night of the Demons (1988)

Ditch the school dance and come party with Angela because we're talking Kevin S. Tenney's Night of the Demons (1988). Not a lot of character or plot in this one, but it's a really fun time with some stylish direction and great FX. Plus: Angela as a dancing (nepo) icon, Linnea Quigley's line deliveries, Rodger as a rare black 80s horror survivor, and subverting the "good boy/bad boy" trope with Jay and Sal. Questions? Comments? when I first watched this film (shown to me as a closeted nb by an out nb in uni) I instantly sensed that the vampire was mtf and had a traumatic background with that. to hear you guys give the background from the book and find that it is indeed the case, makes me feel validated for my interpretation of the film
