We saved the best for last as we conclude "Thanks for the Judds," a six-week programming block on Ashley Judd thrillers, with a look at William Friedkin's controversial 2006 adaptation of Tracy Letts' play Bug, which boasts a career-best performance from Judd.So finish that impromptu tooth extraction and destroy that smoke alarm because we're going all in on this supremely disturbing film (though Friedkin considers it a black comedy!). You'll hear us say it in the episode, but this is a great fucking movie. Plus: offering a primer on Tracy Letts, returning to the dreaded F CinemaScore, and heaping all the praise on Judd's iconic "Super Mother Bug" monologue that closes the film.Questions? Our second-last entry in "Thanks for the Judds" is 2004's Twisted, directed by 1978's Invasion of the Body Snatchers' Philip Kaufman!This wannabe Noir/Erotic Thriller was written by female screenwriter Sarah Thorp, and is weirdly judgey and misogynistic when it comes to sex and sexuality.Plus: a queer-coded Camyrn Manheim; red herrings for every male character; a too-obvious villain; and the return of "Merry Christmas Daddy"!!!Questions? Next up is Carl Franklin's legal thriller (for real this time) High Crimes (2002).  Join us as we go all in on this Kiss the Girls reunion between Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman. It's all rather workmanlike and features way too many characters and subplots, but for people who love a good legal thriller: it's got the (predictable) goods.  Plus: baby Adam Scott, Judd's extremely 2000s haircut and "post-Gen X" character, and the return of Joe's game (a lot).
