On June 8, 1967, the USS LIBERTY an unarmed intelligence ship reporting to the Joint Chiefs of Staff under the auspices of the National Security Agency, was positioned in international waters off the coast of Egypt when it was attacked with deadly violence by unmarked jet planes firing rockets and machine guns and throwing napalm onto its deck. This ambush was followed by a torpedo strike that blew a forty-foot hole in the starboard side of the ship. Lacking the capacity to defend themselves, thirty-four sailors were killed and 174 wounded, many for life. By the end of the day, Israel had confessed to having been the aggressor, simultaneously arguing that the attack had been an "accident" and a "mistake."The facts said otherwise. So intense and sustained was the attack - it lasted for nearly an hour and a half - so specific was the aiming for the antennae and satellite dish on deck, that it was scarcely credible that Israel's aggression was not deliberate; such was the view of Marshall Carter, the director of the National Security Agency, his deputy director Louis Tordella, and Richard Helms, the Director of Central Intelligence.

On the night of November 24, 1971 a man named D.B. Cooper hijacked NWA 305, bound for Seattle from Portland. In exchance for the 36 passengers, he received $200,000 in used $20 bills and 4 parachutes. He ordered the plane to take off from Sea-Tac airport, strapped the $200,000 to his body and parachuted out the rear of that plane into the dark, cold Washington State sky, never to be seen or heard from - until now.

Welcome to the world of forensic pathology, where mystery meets science, law and medicine join forces, and amazing discoveries lurk around every corner. Most importantly, it is a world where the application of fundamental scientific principles and sound investigative techniques can help to uncover the truth and ensure that justice is served. As a practicing forensic pathologist for the past 40 years, I have spent the majority of my life seeking social truth and justice through the application of these principles and techniques to some of the world’s greatest mysteries. Over that period of time, I have watched forensic science in general undergo dramatic progress, most recently in the areas of DNA testing and computer simulation.
On June 5th, 1968, at L.A.'s Ambassador Hotel, Robert F. Kennedy celebrated his victory in the California Democratic primary with a rousing victory speech anticipating a successful run for the presidency. Moments later, gunshots shattered that dream. The police quickly apprehended Sirhan Sirhan, who the world believed had single-handedly masterminded the shooting. But in Who Killed Bobby? Shane O'Sullivan makes a stunning case that will fundamentally alter the way the public views Bobby Kennedy's death. After an autopsy, LA County Coroner Thomas Noguchi concluded that the deadly shots had been fired from an inch behind Kennedy's right ear, but not a single witness placed Sirhan this close; most placed his gun several feet away, and in front of the senator. Moreover, Vincent Di Pierro, along with several other witnesses, saw Sirhan with a girl in a polka-dot dress in the pantry, exclaiming, "We shot him. We shot him." O'Sullivan presents new interviews with key witnesses the LAPD browbeat into changing their storie

MIKE ROTHSCHILD - QANON

2019-05-0900:52:23

Mike Rothschild specializes in history and fringe topics. As an authority on conspiracy theories, he has been interviewed by the New York Times, cited by Snopes, and garnered over 60 million views. As a dad of two, he has been kicked in the face a lot. An Invitation to the Great Awakening is a new way for those pushing the Qanon conspiracy theory to make cash, since recent changes to YouTube’s algorithm have made it harder for conspiracy theorists to find new followers and cash in on true believers.
The untold story from inside his family. Dramatic, unyielding, and provocative, Uncle Al Capone by Deirdre Marie Capone, Al Capone's grandniece, is a fascinating memoir and engaging biography. This moving, highly readable portrait of the Capone family and its mob trade examines what it has meant to survive the storied legacy of the family's forbearers. As Capone traces the arc of regret and what fuels the Capone myth, she finds redemption and a way to coexist with her legacy. In seventeen chapters with titles like "The Making of the Mafioso," "Trading the Chicago Outfit for the Chicago Cubs," and "The Saint Valentine's Day Truth," Capone outlines organized crime in Chicago and offers vignettes of American history during the early and mid-twentieth century. Using years of research and exhaustive interviews with her aunts, uncles, and cousins, she weaves an engaging anecdotal narrative of what it meant to be a Capone, what it meant to lose her father to suicide, and what it meant to have a mother who lived in constant fear. She offers compelling evidence that Al Capone was specifically targeted for prosecution by law enforcement agencies assisted by the media, which made gross exaggerations of her uncle's exploits and fueled a phenomenon of half-truths and utter falsehoods. From the family's roots in Angri, Italy to the author's ongoing investigations today, this debut offers a comprehensive and moving portrait of an iconic American family and one woman's efforts to make peace with the past.
Michaud and Aynesworth spent weeks interwiewing psycho sex killer Bundy before Florida authorities executed him. Bundy's story was detailed by the duo in their chilling volume The Only Living Witness (Classics Returns, LJ 11/1/99). The best portion of that title was the excerpts from those interviews. Originally released in 1989, the book contains the full transcripts from those conversations. Without ever admitting that he performed any of these acts (he maintained his innocence until hours before his execution), Bundy offers a matter-of-fact, third-person account of how "someone" performing kidnappings, rapes, and murders might go about it and how that person might act under these circumstances. His frankness offers perhaps the most unfettered look into the mind of a serial killer, and many of his observations are quite surprising, as Bundy reveals himself to be clever, insightful, and intelligent--far from how most would picture a psychosexual killer. His revelations on the nature of the instinct to kill, where it comes from, how it grows, how victims are selected, etc., are invaluable to psychologists and investigators. This updated edition contains a new foreword by Robert Keppel, president of the Institute for Forensics.
