And then, does the teacher have the time to prepare lessons or revise earlier lessons? With Versa, all of this happens automatically. And it’s presented through an intuitive data visualisation so that tired teachers don’t need to wade through the data.Script 2In picturesque towns with cosy gardens, murder is a foot!Who is hiding?Who is scheming?Who’s having tea and spilling the beans?Who hates who?And who is next?Who’s up for a first - class weekend of second guessing?WhodunnitStarts Friday August 29We'd love your feedback - and if you listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, hit the follow button today!**Listen to all of our podcasts here - you can also watch on YouTube, or say to your smart speaker "Play How Do You Say That?!"About our guest: From TV ads to In-store and Big Award Ceremonies - as well as ITV1 continuity and radio station imaging around the world - you'll absolutely know Gina Mellotte's voice. In ep 141 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Ingrid Wiseman joins Sam and Mark to talk about accents, water and the elements! Just how DO you approach a script for a video to be played in a big conference as opposed to watching it on a compnay website - and how much earthy character does the ground need for a museum exhibit? Our VO question this week is all about whether you need to have an authentic accent to be booked for a job - even if you can do the specific accent really well.Get involved! Have you got a Wildcard suggestion that we should try or an idea for the show? Send it to us via Mark or Sam's social media or email it directly to podcast@britishvoiceover.co.ukScript 1From the very beginning We transformed how waste water was managed Building new treatment works and infrastructure along our coast And set new standards for the future In every county, town and village, Every community, Every site, (even those tricky ones). In every office And in recent times, every home office, dining room, and kitchen too. On every project. Big and the small. Engineering, Finding leaks, Fixing bursts, And, helping customers. Now, we get to be part of a new era for our sector. Where reservoirs are built, Where technology is key, Where we have a new plan.Script 2Psst... hey there.. it's me—the ground. Yep, right here... underneath your feet. I'm the top layer of the earth and, possess diverse capabilities depending on my composition. From soaking wet to bone dry, I form the basis for different habitats. And that's not all. If clay or humus are part of my mixture, I turn into a fantastic water filter. When water seeps through my fine layers, dirt particles and toxins simply filter out. If I consist of many coarse grains of sand, however, the water seeps away considerably faster and things tend to slip through me.We'd love your feedback - and if you listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, hit the follow button today!**Listen to all of our podcasts here - you can also watch on YouTube, or say to your smart speaker "Play How Do You Say That?!"About our guest: Ingrid Wiseman trained as an actor at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre school and went on to work in Television, Radio, Theatre and Film for several years. In ep 140 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Marissa Dubois joins Sam and Mark to talk about taking all the emotion out of a documentary read (and how feeling cross can help). We remove the schmaltz from a schmaltzy script and explore how not to be excessively sentimental when talking about love. Plus how varying your pace within a sentence can bring more drama, and how nailing a conversational read is one of the trickiest to pull off.Our VO question this week is all about how you prepare for a singing part in a voice over script.Get involved! In ep 139 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Michael Ashtiany joins Sam and Mark to talk about judging a read properly depending the demographic of the audience... Making a story so a script is easy to follow... How to nail a "being bored" read and how having a connection to the subject matter can make all the difference to your delivery. We also meet a demonic cat, a psychotic PE teacher and there's a script about sleep that'll make you sit up wide awake! Our VO question this week is all about keeping positive when perhaps the industry can feel a little negative at times!Get involved! There is a big difference.Script 2About an hour and a half before bed, it helps to start winding down.Falling asleep isn’t like flicking a switch, it’s more like slowly turning down a dimmer. A little routine before bed tells your body, okay, time to switch off.And in the morning? Here’s the tough bit…when the alarm goes, get up right away. I know, it feels brutal. That groggy, heavy-eyed feeling has a name…sleep inertia. But snoozing only makes it worse. The best fix? In ep 138 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, Ciaran Saward joins Sam and Mark to work out how much storytelling you can squeeze into an informative Health & Safety script without sounding like the voice of disaster. We work out how to translate seemingly occult corporate speak... and if the script talks of legends - do you automatically go all Lord of the Rings on it, or is there a more subtle approach? In our VO question this week Ciaran tells us how he approached his first big audio drama, with some national treasures in the room, without running scared.Get involved! In ep 137 of “How Do You Say That?!” sponsored by britishvoiceover.co.uk, the voice of Sainsbury's, Lizzie Jobling joins Sam and Mark to talk about adding in the elements of a real conversation - things like grasping for words as if you've just thought of them. We explore speaking from the persepctive of the character and how to go from instructional to warm. We also get on board a ship for a video about all kinds of nasty stomach complaints! One of our wildcards takes us to one of the most ubiquitous commercials of 2025, and hear Sam in the pool doing a lazy breast-stroke on the Cote d'Azur!!Our VO question this week is all about what an accredited voiceover course actually is, and why the actual accredition is important.Get involved! Have you got a Wildcard suggestion that we should try or an idea for the show? Send it to us via Mark or Sam's social media or email it directly to podcast@britishvoiceover.co.ukScript 1Moreover we know that, after the pandemic of 2020, around 67% of Italians said that their screen fatigue had increased because of video calls and the time spent online, and the audiobook finally allows us to rest our eyes and let our imagination soar. And there is a fundamental element and that is the emotional bond that develops with the narrator’s voice. This is the great advantage that audiobooks offer, the voices who read audiobooks create an emotional bond that often goes beyond the story and the author, so much so that many users choose the next audio book on the basis of their favourite narrators.Script 2ALL visitors on the ship must report to a member of staff if they are affected by or have just recovered from infections of skin, eyes, ears, mouth or gastrointestinal illness. In the case of ammonia or waste release, if you smell ammonia or waste, or come across an ammonia alarm remove yourself from the affected area and contact your manager or RP immediately. If you are not in the affected area remain indoors or assemble in the ground floor mess room area and await further instruction. You are responsible for disposing of any waste you create. Then there's the whole slang thing - are boobies ta-tas or tay-ters like potatoes??? We have a strong debate that rather takes us away from the read!! Plus, when is a spoof not a spoof... when you have to read it seriously! You guessed it, breasts. Here’s everything we know about ‘em.Whether hemispherical, pear shaped, sagging or flat, women's breasts are pretty unique, because while all mammalian breasts produce milk for their young, humans are the only species who view tatas in a sexual context.81% of women say that having their coconuts stimulated causes or enhances sexual arousal.Script 2Yes, it is me. I have it. It was very easy. He is even more stupid than his file says. The train leaves in seventeen minutes and thirty-eight seconds. It is due to arrive in Istanbul in approximately nineteen hours and eight minutes, and then it will take approximately seven minutes and twelve seconds for me to reach a telephone. Soon, healthcare professionals realised regulation was necessary to improve the quality of care, keep patients safe, and make staff productive. So, a number of industry organisations were formed to put standards in place. That’s where we come in. We help healthcare organisations and practitioners ensure they’re compliant with those industry standards. And in doing this, we also help them get paid faster and improve their operational efficiency and prevent them from being fined or shut down.Script 2From studio 7H in Lolla Plaza, New York City, and in collaboration with N-A-R Studios in Los Angeles, California, I’m Mason Lane and this is Cold Case Crime Cuts. We deal with intonation that includes plane coming into land, shopping list, upspeak and de-voicing with vocal fry to learn how to nail this trend we hear more and more.It sparks quite a discussion - but love it or loathe it - we ask the question, could it be useful for your voiceover career?Get involved! And why do they all seem to take place in the Middle Ages? Figures like Puss in Boots and Humpty Dumpty are not just recognisable, they are reused and reimagined in contemporary films like Shrek. Look for other familiar characters: Little Red Riding Hood conversing with a wolf, Robin Hood crossing a river, Jack and the beanstalk, and Old Mother Goose soaring in the skies—these and others continue to shape our collective imagination.Script 2I've been doing therapy on and off for about a decade now and I must say it can be very hard finding a therapist that you click with, let alone someone with an open schedule in general.
