Humble Hearts Podcast is a practical look at what the Bible says about faith, family and marriage. Every week we dive into God's word covering topics that hit close to home. How do I move on from a broken heart? What does the bible say about dating? Does God really care about my needs? From the foundations of friendship to the complexities of raising a family in our current culture, we tackle these topics (and more) in a practical and biblical context.

What an amazing ride it's been. Thank you all for sharing this experience with us. It's been an amazing 3 years. Thanks for listening. Steven & Ann
This week we check out Psalms 101 and discuss the idea of sticking with the basics. In our Christian walk, there can be many things that distract us from the simpler things of our faith. Even things like family and ministry can distract us from simply guarding our thoughts. Join us this week as we look at examples from the Old Testament and discuss strategies for keeping up with the basics.
Why does it seem like so many prayers go unanswered? Does God really hear our requests and what should we do when heaven seems silent? We hear so many questions like this from Christians today, and we've probably asked them ourselves. What should our approach be when we pray and how do we align our motivations toward the will of the Father? Join us this week as we review scriptures from the book of James and discuss what's really at stake.
Have you ever stopped to think about how you really think about yourself or how you introduce yourself to others? What name do you give yourself? Do you believe what God says about you? Join us today as we discuss.
In this week's episode, we talk about those circumstances that pop up and cause us to react in a way we're not so proud of. What's the first thing that pops into your head when your boss asks you to stay late? Is it okay to bite someone's head off if you've given them a dozen chances to listen? Join us as we discuss the contents of our heart and what the Bible says about renewing our mind.
We're back! After taking a few weeks off, Humble Hearts is back with a new discussion topic. This week we talk about being in a pit. Many struggles in life can feel like being at the bottom of a pit. However, Psalms 40, verse 2, says that "He set my feet on a rock." Join us as we discuss this verse and what it takes to start making our way out of these pits.
This week we dive into the first few Chapters of Philippians. Paul's letter to the church makes the case that we are to put others' needs before our own. Paul gives us several great examples of this dynamic and also offers a word of caution for those with the wrong motivations.
This week we continue our discussion on self but from a different angle. How often do we talk ourselves out of following God because we only view the circumstances through our own abilities or our desires? God wants us to trust Him. Focusing on individual limitations can lead to self-doubt and ultimately doubting God's ability to work through us.
This week we jump into part two of our series on Self. Proverbs chapter 25 and verse 28 states that a "Man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls." Our lives and the lives of those around us depends on our ability to control ourselves and bring our will in line with our Father's will. Without self-control we are left vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy and the influences of the world around us.
This week we start a short series on the topic of Self. This episode tackles the idea of living a holistic life before God. Our Father created us spirit, soul and body. It should be our goal to bring all three parts into right order under submission to God. Join us as we discuss more about bringing our whole selves before God.
This week we discuss the concept of lip service. This can be a tricky subject as we are looking at the intentions behind what we say. It can be hard to really get to the root of what we say or why we say it, but God's word requires us to be mindful of what comes out of our mouths. Join us!
This week we wrap up the second half of our study on Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. What exactly does the Bible mean when it references the Kingdom and what does it mean for our salvation?
This week we start a two-part series based on Jesus's final entry into Jerusalem. As Christians, we have the tendency to wrap our own ideas of salvation around the Gospel. We place our hopes and expectations on a gospel of our own making and then find ourselves upset with God when it fails to come to pass. What does the Bible say about salvation and how do we avoid creating our own bad theology?
We've looked at the Parable of the Lost Sheep in reference to the One that is found, but what about the 99 left behind? Have you ever looked at the Prodigal Son from the view of the elder brother? Join us this week as we ask some hard questions and see what God's Word has to say about the 99.
This week we look at the parables in Luke 15. What does it mean to leave the 99 to find the one? How can the son be restored back into his father's family? Join us as we discuss.
This week we discuss a passage of scripture in Corinthians. Paul reviews the history of the Israelites as they wander through the wilderness and uses their experiences as an example of how we should approach our relationship with God. Idol worship is more than bowing to golden calves. Join us this week as we discuss the danger of serving two masters.
This week we dive into one of our favorite topics, leadership. The Bible gives clear instructions for those in traditional leadership roles, but those principles apply to anyone responsible for a flock, regardless of the size. Join us as we cover 5 key characteristics of Leading Well.
There are seasons in our lives where it seems God is silent, and we feel alone. Join us as we look at what the Word says about these challenging times.
We've all had someone at some point in our lives tell us to "chill out" or "take a chill pill." From a biblical perspective, avoiding anxiety is a desire of God. He wants us to live a life free of worry but that's hard to do when our lives are self-centered. We must live a Christ centered life if we are to truly find our chill.
This week we continue discussing ministry but diving into some common objections to getting involved. We can be really good at talking ourselves out of what God has asked us to do. Join us as we look at some of these objections and find out what the Word has to say.
