The Husker247 Podcast tried to sneak in 45 minutes of chatting about Tony White, Dana Holgorsen and everything else that happened on Monday, but then Tuesday’s news cycle started to happen. However before the news started rolling int he trio discussed White leaving for Florida State, why it may have happened, why despite White’s success it’s not as concerning as it may seem and who ultimately could replace the defensive coordinator. Then a discussion took place about Holgorsen staying as an offensive coordinator, how this might be the single most important coaching move of the offseason for the Huskers and what things could look like with more time to install his vision for the Huskers. And then the news started happening. First a wide receivers coach in Daniel Shorts. Then Daniel Kaelin entered the transfer portal.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. The Sunday Side Session came a day early as the Nebraska Cornhuskers played Iowa on Black Friday. The game felt like a repeat of so many of Nebraska’s inexplicable losses so to help break it down Ravi Lulla joined from Hurrdat Sports Media. Things start with special teams talk and then work their way through the offense and eventually into specific players and performances.  Finally the two debate if the season is success and their own long-term outlook for Matt Rhule and the program under his guidance.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. It’s the last game of the regular season. Nebraska is already bowl eligible. So is Iowa. This version of Black Friday hasn’t played out since 2016 so…LETS GET HYPED! The Nebraska Cornhuskers are looking for a seventh win but even more than that the team will be trying to continue the strong play from the offense as it put up 44 points a week ago against Wisconsin.  Who better to bring aboard for Iowa than Nebraska super fan and local radio extraordinaire Jack Mitchell? The panel discusses Nebraska’s offense, what to make of the Huskers’ renewed running game and then if the defense is up to the task of defending the same handful of run plays over-and-over-and over.  Finally it’s prediction time. There’s oddly specific predictions, pick to click predictions and, of course, a final score prediction — but this week in honor of Nebraska being bowl eligible the panel also each selected a bowl location and an opponent. Did anyone select the Pinstripe Bowl? Or Matt Rhule getting a massive tub of mayo dumped on him? Listen in and find out on this week’s Husker247 HypeCast. Nebraska basketball picked up a huge win on Friday — but what’s next for the Huskers?  The Husker247 HoopsCast walks through the Creighton win, why it happened and what it means, but then shifts the conversation forward about upcoming games with South Dakota and North Florida. Nebraska football got the elusive sixth win so now what? The Husker247 Pod believes the Huskers, like the other 70-some teams who have six wins, should move forward and look to add to its success. Mike Schaefer and Brian Christopherson talk through Nebraska’s win against Wisconsin, how the Huskers pulled it off, why the offensive performance wasn’t that surprising and which players stood out in the win.  The show finishes up with a conversation about Malachi Coleman and then a larger conversation about all the player movement to come and that we’re a week from Early Signing Day.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. For the first time in show history the Sunday Side Session discussed a sixth win making the Nebraska Cornhuskers bowl eligible. The fact it followed a Friday night hoops win against in-state rival Creighton only added to the celebratory nature of the weekend. So given this who better to join than 93.7 The Ticket’s Jake Sorensen to discuss both the Huskers 44-25 beatdown of Wisconsin and Nebraska’s deconstruction of the Creighton offense.  Things start with football and the Nebraska offense which looked comfortable and confident on Saturday against the Badgers. What stood out to Schaefer and Sorensen on that side of the ball? Then a discussion about Nebraska’s secondary both short-term and long-term as the Huskers have issues even if Iowa seems unlikely to exploit them.  Finally the two giddily discuss the strong defensive performance from the Nebraska front court against Ryan Kalkbrenner and how the Huskers move forward after a big win. The Husker247 Postgame Pod runs through the highlights and a few lowlights in Nebraska’s 44-25 win over Wisconsin. Mike Schaefer goes solo and tells you his top performers in the game, the way the offense looked a little different and hit on the strong play from the specialists before discussing what’s ailing Nebraska’s defense. Finally a few thoughts ahead of the Iowa game that doesn’t have the same stakes but is now a lot more fun to discuss. Nebraska is running out of opportunities for the elusive sixth win so it’s time to get hyped for the Huskers as the team hosts Wisconsin on Saturday. These similarly matched teams look to play close again on Saturday and special guest Connor Happer joins Husker247 to break down the action. What does Dana Holgorsen’s second game look like? Can Nebraska get more from the running game? Which personnel changes should we expect? Then it’s onto defense — how do the Huskers bounce back after a tough showing against USC? Finally it’s time for predictions. Does anyone see Nebraska winning? The Husker247 HoopsCast returns on Wednesday to discuss Nebraska’s performance against Saint Mary’s, Fred Hoiberg’s thoughts ahead of the next game against Creighton and the aforementioned game against the Jays. Both Mike Schaefer and Brian Christopherson are in agreement that spurts of the game against Saint Mary’s featured some of the best play Nebraska has had on the hardwood this season. However the team couldn’t stay out of its own way long enough. Still Berke Buyuktuncel emerging as an option is a good thing going forward and Brice Williams showed he’s capable of pulling Nebraska into a game. Will that be enough against Creighton? The two debate the game and what would have to happen for the Huskers to pull a big upset in Omaha.  The show finishes with a one-hit wonder for guess a random Husker hooper. Who is it this week? The Husker247 Podcast returned on Tuesday to discuss Nebraska’s game against USC, the changes we saw from the offense and more. Conversation actually started about California weather and if Michael Bruntz and Brian Christopherson are beach people but things eventually shifted to football. When the pigskin was discussed Husker247 hit on some defensive issues, personnel changes and how things are tracking. Finally a discussion on what athletic director Troy Dannen had to say, how the Huskers overcome tight play and why this senior class controls its own narrative. This week on the Sunday Side Session Mike Schaefer is joined by 93.7 The Ticket radio man Nick Sehnert as the two discuss the Huskers loss to USC. The conversation covered the running theme of Nebraska not seizing on opportunities both on offense and on defense as the Huskers were unable to take advantage in the loss.  The two also discussed the outlook for Nebraska with two games remaining, how the offense looked with Dana Holgorsen and if the running game that looked solid on Saturday can be carried over to the final two weeks of the season. The Husker247 Postgame Podcast convened to discuss the latest close but not good enough loss for the Huskers after the 28-20 defeat at the hands of USC. Mike Schaefer and Michael Bruntz discussed the Huskers latest performance and started with some coaching decisions including timeout usage like the one during the fourth quarter to punt and then the lack of tacking one during the final drive which likely cost the team more opportunities at the end zone late. The two ran through Nebraska’s offense and what looked different under Dana Holgorsen and where things can still stand to improve as the Huskers finished with just 30 points and barely crept past 300 yards of total offense. Finally what has happened with Nebraska’s defense and is it time to get some younger players in on the back end as the Huskers veterans struggled in the loss.
