ERG / Endurance Games (Scotland) — Graham breaks down the weekend: a backyard-style 24-hour erg/run grind (~7% finish rate), the 5-4-3-2-1 ERG Sprint (runs get shorter, stations get nastier: burpees → row → ski → Echo → 400m finish), and the community Unite day. We talk pacing per hour, why they backloaded the pain, and the plan for 2026 events. Then, Actress Sarah Booth (SVU, Three Pines, Chicago Med) jumps in: landing the dream SVU guest role (and doing her own fights), how accents actually get built, stunt vs. “stunt casting,” HYROX training in Windsor/Toronto, and why doubles > singles when you want to push hard but still breathe. We start in Texas with DEKA FIT Austin, where athletes packed the arena for two full days of racing. Cheryl and Dave share first-hand stories from the floor, including the atmosphere, judging struggles, and how the relay and elite heats played out. Across the Atlantic, DEKA FIT made its UK arena debut in Derby. Ian Kay reports back on what worked, what still needs refining, and how it stacked up against the strong Spanish events. From course layout to volunteer shortages to new equipment, the UK launch had the buzz of early HYROX days. Kevin Gregory, AKA Bubbles joined us to give lots of his takes on the latest news as well. Then we move into one of the most talked-about topics in HYROX right now — the introduction of “fast lane police.” What started as a viral photo turned into a serious debate about fairness, pacing, and how crowded courses should be managed. We break down what it means for athletes at sold-out races and whether it’s the right solution. Along the way we also cover: • Why new DEKA machines in the UK felt faster or harder depending on the erg • Equipment differences between Europe and the U.S. • The problem of judging consistency across waves • How event growth is changing the community feel in both DEKA and HYROX • Whether five-day HYROX events are a great experience or just too big It’s a full recap of DEKA Austin, the first DEKA FIT UK, and HYROX’s latest move to control race flow. Wes Robertson outlines the launch of LT Games at the Target Center in Minneapolis on October 25–26. He walks through the 17-station format including machine runs, barbell and dumbbell work, wall balls, box jump-overs, ski and row segments, with a choose-your-own-adventure loading system to hit total weight targets. We cover judging, heat structure, equipment from Torque, the expected field size of around 250 athletes, and Lifetime’s long-term plan for more hubs, qualifiers, and eventually a national championship. Hugo Inglis (Olympic hockey, High Impact Athletes) explains how his Rio Olympic experience led to founding High Impact Athletes, an athlete-led movement connecting pros and now HYROX racers to vetted global charities. He details how Race for Impact works inside HYROX ticketing, how charities are selected by independent evaluators, and the current focus areas: global health, mental health, climate solutions, and women’s empowerment, or animal welfare. This week’s Not So Live Show covers HYROX’s new athlete license (anti-doping, code of conduct, first wave access, cost), what it means for the Elite 15 and the broader field, and whether Rally West Virginia or something like it could grow into a true mass participation alternative to HYROX and DEKA. We also get into: – Event formats: what works and what doesn’t – Sponsor realities for hybrid events big and small – The DEKA Relay test — what we liked and what we’re still unsure about – The new DEKA UK velodrome course and how it changes race flow – Whether this is a reset moment for hybrid competition Guest Links: Ugly Dave | Cheryl Snow Watch on YouTube Listen on Apple or Spotify Support us through The Cup Of Coffee Follow Hybrid Fitness Media on IG

Things get heated as Matt, Cheryl, Dave, and special guest Jay (joining from the UK) tackle the fallout from Deadly Dozen’s latest event. What started as a couple of Instagram clips spiraled into thousands of views, dozens of comments, and a full-blown debate about judging, movement standards, and world record legitimacy. The crew digs into why the community reacted so strongly, whether “bad reps” can ever be waved off, and how Deadly plans to fix judging issues before prize money and championships hit in 2026. Plus, Jay calls his shot: UK athletes will dominate unless U.S. elites step up. We also hit on: Why hybrid fans might just be bored post-Worlds. Dave Parkin’s lightning-fast Deadly performance (and its controversies). How Deadly Dozen is investing in judges, pay scales, and head-judge systems. The bigger picture: building culture, enforcing standards, and handling criticism. Cheryl’s DEKA Mile at Camp Rhino and finding joy in fitness when times are tough. The Lifetime Games tease: 17 stations, big volume, and no hiding. HYROX Atlanta ticket sales — slowing demand or just timing issues? The new HYROX Conditioning Test (HCT) from Lauren Rantala. Oscar Moreno spent 18 years in the Army with tours in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Guantanamo. After retiring in 2020 he found DEKA FIT in 2022 and went all in, competing everywhere, qualifying for Worlds, and eventually opening Flagal Fitness in the San Fernando Valley. From there he launched the San Fernando Valley Games, a new strength and endurance race format, and now he is hosting a HYROX simulation weekend in Sylmar, CA on October 18 and 19. Day one is HYROX Strong, all stations with no running. Day two is the full simulation with solo, doubles, and relay divisions. Timing chips included. John Hickey is the creator of Best of LinkedIn, the account that skewers corporate cringe and fake “my kid said this” posts. What started as parody became a career shift. John moved from ad sales into directing major ad campaigns.
