A couple of months ago one of my oldest childhood friends passed away.
In this episode I tell 2 of my favorite stories about Eric and share a few memories of growing up with him.
1 is a story that you can laugh at, the other is a story that tells you what kind of guy Eric was, even as a kid.
A little part of Eric will always live inside of me, and I feel fortunate to have grown up with a friend like him.

Well, it's official...made it one year with this podcast!

I think we could all use a little more practice on being proud of ourselves these days.
It's not something that was taught to us growing up...how to cultivate pride in ourselves.

Have you ever told someone about a problem or struggle you had and gotten a lot of unsolicited advice?
Or do you find yourself giving a lot of advice that people don't follow?
Well, maybe it's because they weren't looking for advice, but they were looking to be heard.
As someone who used to be the KING of unsolicited advice-giving, I have found a better way.
A simple question...
"Would you like solutions or would you like me to listen?"
...could be a total game changer to humanity.
And I realize that's a big claim...but its true.

I sometimes think we are living in a bizarro world where people try to separate mental and physical health as if they aren't closely correlated.
I see a lot of people who struggle with their mental health and it's often because their physical health is causing them all kinds of problems.
I also know people who have been in therapy FOR YEARS, and never once has their therapist or psychiatrist recommended paying attention to their diet or getting exercise as a means to help their mental state.
There's a ton of research to support the fact that exercise is more effective as an anti-depressant and anti-anxiety solution than any medication.
So why is it not common practice to treat individuals as a whole person rather than a set of symptoms we treat individually?
Well in today's episode, I discuss just that.

Have you heard a lot lately about psychedelics, or about mushrooms and how it can help your mental health?

I've experimented with microdosing mushrooms for a good chunk of 2022 and I've found it wildly helpful.

Over the last 3 years I've personally learned A TON about relationships.
Patterns, conditioning, how childhood attachments impact our relationships, past trauma, and the nervous system's impact on how we show up for our partner, etc.
I've even been certified as a relationship coach (I don't do couples' coaching. I obtained the certification to better help my clients with relationship issues).
But in 2022 I have learned more about relationships than ever before.
Both from my own experiences and through working with, and observing my clients detail their experiences in all stages of relationships.

So many factors are wrapped up into what we dub "mental health."
One of the biggest ones is something I learned when I really started to pull myself out of a dark place back in 2009.
It's the idea of pursuing our potential.
The idea that as long as we are pushing ourselves to grow and and move towards our full potential (which I believe is infinite) we will, in general, be happier, less anxious, and more content.
So today I share how to incorporate that into your life, WITHOUT falling for some of the traps, because there are many.

We are facing a mental health crisis like we've never seen before.

Out of all the client complaints I've ever heard, "I can't seem to stop beating myself up in my own head" is by far the one I have heard the most.
