HOLY S#@T! This show still does new episodes! This time, I’m talking about that great sci fi idea generator, The Turing Test. What is it really? What does it say about technology? What does it say about us? What does it say about us and technology going forward? Tune in and find out.

FOOLED YOU! There’s no episode from me this time! Instead, as part of a cross-promotional initiative by Moxie at Your Brain on Facts, I’m sharing an episode from The Vocal Fries Podcast. Vocal Fries is a podcast about linguistic discrimination hosted by Carrie and Megan where they discuss language and interview guests about language and our use of language. In this episode, they discuss profanity in the context of the Netflix documentary “A History of Swearing” hosted by Nicholas Cage. Sufficed to say, this episode is NSFW. But, that’s no excuse not to listen or to subscribe to their podcast.

At this point, I'm like Michael Corleone in Godfather III, every time I get out, politics pulls me back in. It's longer than the usual quick hit, but still goes by pretty quick, especially with music added in.

NSFW! There are so many f-bombs in this episode, it's like Tarantino wrote it. I took some time off, got the election out of my system, recharged the ole batteries, and was ready to resume podcasting in 2021. I even had a topic researched and an episode ready to record. Then a bunch of brown-shirts, at the behest of the Orange God King, stormed the Capitol Building to try to put the fear of God, or to hasten their meeting God, in the United States Congress and/or the Vice President of the United States. So, guess what this episode is about. I'm not kidding about the language, though. This was a cathartic expulsion of 5 years of frustration culminating in an epic rant instigated by an epic, historical event (and not a good one). There's not even music in this episode except at the beginning and the end. If you're a Trump fan or a Trump supporter, and you don't want to hear it, you should probably skip this one.

In the midst of a raging pandemic, we had an election. You might have heard about it. Fortunately, it ended with the promised expulsion of President Oompa Loompa. But it wasn’t boring and it wasn’t without things to think about…and talk about going forward. In this episode, I wax rhapsodic on some of those storylines for the future. Also, at the end, I look back on the end of Marvel’s Agents of Shield. Come for the punditry, stick around for the geekery.

Election Day draws near…THE END IS NIGH!!! Or so we were pseudonymously told 4 years ago (in an obscure right-wing publication) and again still today. In this episode, we go back 4 years and explore the ‘Flight 93 Election’ metaphor by going to the source material and evaluating its effectiveness, and histrionic shortcomings. It’s a metaphor that hasn’t gone away and is just as relevant in 2020 as it was in 2016.

I've avoided Covid-19 as a topic for the show...until now. But, I thought a testimonial from a fifth-grader about how different school is now compared to one year ago would be a good contribution. Plus, it gave me an excuse to get my daughter on the show...

As we commemorate the 19th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, I thought I would raise this question that’s becoming more relevant with the passage of time. With have a generation that has been born since 9/11 and how they view that terrible event is different than how I view that event or how my parents or grandparents view that event. The inevitable prism of history is beginning to emerge. So, with that understanding, is it okay to forget 9/11?

I tried to do an episode like this a couple of weeks ago…it didn’t go well. There’s no specific topic covered. I’m just jumping around to random topics of the moment or of a recent vintage. Hopefully, I’ll be more disciplined with the next episode.

A podcast obsession comes to a close. The final chapter (with so, so many chapters before it) has been written. So, filled with mirth and joy (sorta), I chronicle how the story ended.

On May 30th, 2020, I recorded a complete episode in the days after the murder of George Floyd, weeks after the murder of Breonna Taylor, and months after the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. I stopped in the middle of my edit and held onto the episode, greatly influenced and persuaded by my #podfamily on Twitter. Now, after more time and more perspective, I'm adding my contribution, such as it is, to the ongoing discussions that we're all having on these issues. It's a show within a show, so to speak, with my quasi-visceral thoughts in the aftermath of George Floyd's murder.

Do you remember when MTV stood for Music Television? No? That’s because it was a long long long time ago when it did. In another quarantine-based nostalgia trip, I go back and talk about when MTV was at the ZENITH of its power in the late 80s and early 90s as the quintessential pop culture force in American and possibly the world. It’s another “GET OFF MY LAWN!” episode.

Time waits for no one. All kinds of egg on my face in this episode. First, I had to do an update/correction from the last episode (Yes, about Curtis Hill). I spent a lot of time talking about Bernie’s intransigence, then he dropped out of the race four days later. Otherwise, in this NON-COVID episode, I talk about Star Trek: Picard, Tom Brady’s new job, my adieu to Bernie Bros, and why I hope movie theaters survive this pandemic….plus new theme music…

The host’s topical obsession gets resurrected AGAIN! In this update episode, I pay my respects to “Mad” Mike Hughes and I update you on the most recent chapters in my never-ending unhealthy fixation with the ongoing turmoil surrounding Indiana’s Attorney General.
