On this months very special Tuesday Tea we have someone who truly personifies and embodies the I Love That For You spirit of late-blooming, trailblazing and changing course in life for the better.
Marcos Luna just celebrated his birthday last month and is now 11 years clean and sober. He is a Veteran Staffer at Homeboy Industries and began as a trainee on September 17, 2007. He grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and attended several high schools without completing his GED due to his affiliation and participation in local gangs. He was arrested in 1994 and released in 1998. He returned to prison upstate in the same year from 1998 until his release in 2006.
It was through a Drug Diversion and Reintegration Program that he discovered Homeboy Industries. Since 2007, he had his body tattoos slowly removed, got “clean” in 2013 and discovered the joy and kinship of running in community through Back On My Feet and Homeboy Running Group. Currently he works tirelessly during regular business hours as well as an on-call basis to meet the needs of HBI and Father Gregory who he refers to as “Dad”.
Marcos has many essential roles, and he fulfills them with compassion and humility. He is mentioned several times in Father Gregory Boyle’s books as a significant contributor to the mission of Homeboy Industries. He is father to three children and lives nearby in Downtown Los Angeles. He is a regular participant in the Homeboy Monday 5k after Homeboy Industries closes. Today on the pod, he celebrates the wisdom and skills he has learned over the past 17 years and lives in gratitude since his release from state prison.
You can learn more about Homeboy Industries here: https://homeboyindustries.org/

Welcome to the pod multi-talented / disciplined creative and the best friend you wish you had in your corner, Rachel Mullin!
Rachel was born and raised in Massachusetts in a house built by her great-grandfather, in a town of family and football fans. After graduating from Emerson College in Boston, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a TV writer. While that didn’t job path hasn’t quite panned out, she has been working in and around the company currently known as Paramount Global for twenty years in almost every department. Right now she’s in finance, so she fills her free time as one of those dangerous “childless cat ladies” you’ve heard so much about, spending time with her friends and seeing family when she can. She sews, knits, crochets, writes, makes jewelry and gemstone trees and collects methods of carrying her DSLR camera around. Her life may not look like what she thought it would once upon a time, but it works for her. We have a fantastic, enlightening conversation in which we talk about grief, finding ones community, pivoting career paths, thriving in middle-age as a "dangerous childless cat lady" and coming out as demisexual later in life. You don't want to miss this one.
Make sure to check out Rachel's Etsy shop Free Range Crafts!

Welcome to the pod, writer / producer / director / comic-book-nerd-and-creator, Stacey McClain!
A Chicago native, Stacey found early success working for 10 years as a stand-up comedienne, performing all over the country, doing shows such as, “Showtime at the Apollo,” “Soul Train,” and opening up for acts such as “Martin Lawrence” and “George Lopez.” Her adventures in comedy eventually led her to her true calling – writing and producing for television, film the stage, as well as the Internet.
Although she is best known as a television writer, her ability to write across all platforms truly shows that she can effectively bring a story to life, in any medium. Stacey’s storytelling has kept this prolific talent consistently at the top of her game and she's here to tell Kelly all the tea on how she got to where she is today!
