CHAIN REACTION director Alexandre O. Philippe on INSIDE THE ARTHOUSE Horror films have haunted cinema since its earliest days — from the silent terror of NOSFERATU to the iconic Universal Monsters of the 1930s, to demonic classics like ROSEMARY’S BABY and THE EXORCIST. For generations, filmmakers have pushed the boundaries of fear, redefining what it means to scare audiences. Then came 1974. When THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE premiered, it didn’t just terrify audiences; it changed horror forever. Directed by Tobe Hooper, this low-budget, gritty masterpiece arrived in the aftermath of Vietnam and political turmoil, channeling the anxieties of its time. Today, it remains one of the most influential horror movies ever made, inspiring generations of filmmakers. Acclaimed documentarian Alexandre O. Philippe turns his lens on THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE in his new documentary CHAIN REACTIONS. Rather than retelling the well-known production story, Philippe highlights the film’s cultural impact through the eyes of five devoted fans — all accomplished artists themselves. They reveal how this horror classic shaped their creativity, careers, and storytelling. Philippe has built his career exploring cinema’s cultural touchstones. His celebrated works include 78/52 — a deep dive into Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic Psycho shower scene — and LYNCH/OZ, which uncovers how THE WIZARD OF OZ influenced David Lynch’s surreal filmmaking. With CHAIN REACTIONS, Philippe adds another must-see documentary to his filmography. Whether you’re a lifelong horror fan, a filmmaker seeking inspiration, or just curious about why THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE still matters today, this conversation is for you. Even if you don’t typically watch horror films, you’ll find fresh insight and passion in our discussion with CHAIN REACTIONS director Alexandre O. Filmmaker Oren Rudavsky takes us inside Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire, a moving portrait of one of history’s most powerful voices against injustice. The world could use Elie Wiesel right now. A voice with the moral integrity and courage to speak truth to power—no matter the cost. Whether it was challenging Ronald Reagan over his decision to visit the Bitburg Cemetery, where SS soldiers were buried, or confronting Bill Clinton about America’s inaction during the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia, Wiesel never wavered in his fight against injustice and his relentless pursuit of a world free of the kind of genocide that scarred his youth. Wiesel is no longer here to provide that kind of prophetic guidance. But in Oren Rudavsky's film, ELIE WIESEL: SOUL ON FIRE, we do have the rare opportunity to spend time with Wiesel, with his wife and children, and with the teachers and students who continue to carry on his work. Told in his own words and eloquent voice, the film captures Wiesel’s conflicts, memories, and enduring legacy as one of the most public survivors to the Holocaust. Whether you know Wiesel’s story or are discovering it for the first time, ELIE WIESEL: SOUL ON FIRE is a moving, deeply inspirational portrait. We hope our conversation with the filmmaker encourages you to seek out this remarkable film. New interview on INSIDE THE ARTHOUSE with award-winning Oscar Nominated filmmaker Connie Field. Writer and philosopher George Santayana once said: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Few filmmakers embody that lesson more powerfully than Connie Field, whose documentaries on politics, history, and social change have shaped how we understand democracy and human rights today. Her groundbreaking film The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter highlighted the untold stories of American women working in World War II factories. Her Oscar-nominated Freedom on My Mind documented voter suppression and the fight for voting rights in 1960s Mississippi during the Civil Rights Movement. Now, in her latest documentary DEMOCRACY NOIR, Field turns her camera to Europe, exposing the rise, fall, and return to power of Viktor Orbán in Hungary—a chilling example of how democratic institutions can be eroded and transformed into tools of authoritarian rule. This conversation with Connie Field is an urgent reminder of the importance of protecting democracy, both abroad and here in the United States. Watch our full interview on Inside the Arthouse now. There’s a special kind of magic that happens when great actors are given the freedom to fully inhabit their characters. In A Little Prayer—the new indie drama from acclaimed writer-director Angus MacLachlan (Junebug)—that magic is front and center. Veteran stars David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck) and Celia Weston (Dead Man Walking) play a longtime married couple facing the quiet struggles of family life. At the heart of the story is their daughter-in-law, portrayed by Jane Levy (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), in what critics are calling a breakout performance reminiscent of Amy Adams in Junebug. With warmth, humor, and honesty, A Little Prayer explores love, resilience, and the power of family in ways that feel timeless and deeply human. On this episode of Inside the Arthouse, we sit down with Angus MacLachlan and Jane Levy to go behind the scenes of the film’s creative journey—from script to screen, and from independent vision to theatrical release. 👉 Watch our exclusive conversation now and discover why A Little Prayer is being hailed as one of the must-see indie films of 2025. #ALittlePrayer #JaneLevy #DavidStrathairn #CeliaWeston #AngusMacLachlan #IndieFilm #IndependentCinema #InsideTheArthouse #BehindTheScenes #FilmInterview #Junebug #FamilyDrama #MovieLoversUSA #IndieFilmPodcast #FilmmakerInterview @musicBoxFilms  @laemmle   @InsidetheArthouse   @OfficialRaphaelSbarge  #AlittlePrayerfilm #JaneLevy  @AngusMacLachlan  A Little Prayer movie A Little Prayer 2025 film Jane Levy A Little Prayer Angus MacLachlan interview David Strathairn new movie Celia Weston A Little Prayer Indie film 2025 Best independent films 2025 Jane Levy breakout role Junebug director new film Inside the Arthouse podcast Behind the scenes indie film Indie drama movies 2025 Family drama film 2025 Amy Adams Junebug comparison Low budget indie filmmaking American independent cinema Filmmaker interview podcast Jane Levy Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Character-driven drama 2025 Jane Levy interview A Little Prayer movie Angus MacLachlan director of Junebug new film Best indie family dramas 2025 Independent film podcasts USA How A Little Prayer was made #arthouse #arthouseFilm @laemmle #BehindTheScenes #FilmDiscussion #MovieReview #NewReleases #NewFilmReleases #FilmLovers #Cinema #MoviePodcast #GregLaemmle #RaphaelSbarge #LaemmleTheatres #FilmDistribution #MovieIndustry #FilmBusiness Video Podcast Independent Film / Indie Film Arthouse Film / Arthouse Movie Film Lovers / Cinema New Movie Releases / New Film Releases Repertory Cinema / Classic Films / Classic Movies Filmmaker Interviews / Filmmakers (Directors, Writers, Producers) Film Distributors / Film Distribution Movie Industry / Film Business / Movie Business Behind-the-Scenes Insights Film Discussion / Movie Reviews / Film Analysis Greg Laemmle / Raphael Sbarge Laemmle Theatres Learn more about your ad choices. Genre in film is a way we group stories — by shared style, form, or subject. In the new film ANY DAY NOW, writer-director Eric Aronson takes the familiar framework of a heist movie and flips it on its head. Instead of leaning on nonstop action, Aronson delivers a sharp, character-driven story that leans on comedy — anchored by veteran actor Paul Guilfoyle, whose wit and depth shine in every scene. At the center of the story is the infamous 1990 Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum robbery in Boston — one of the most audacious and unsolved art heists in American history. Thirteen priceless paintings vanished without a trace, but here the crime is the backdrop to a more intimate tale: how people, in a specific time and place, can collide in ways that reveal our quirks, contradictions, and unexpected outcomes. As you’re about to see, Eric Aronson and Paul Guilfoyle had an undeniable chemistry bringing ANY DAY NOW to life. REPERTORY CINEMA at The Film Forum with Programmer Bruce Goldstein At INSIDE THE ARTHOUSE, we love discovering bold new voices and emerging filmmakers. But there's something uniquely rewarding about revisiting a classic—whether it's an old favorite or a legendary film you've always meant to watch. And seeing these films on the big screen in a real movie theater is the way they were meant to be experienced. Repertory cinema in the U.S. has faced its share of challenges, from the rise of home video and streaming to rising urban real estate costs. Many iconic rep theaters have closed. But in recent years, there's been a revival of interest in classic and cult films, shown theatrically in new restorations and 35mm prints. One of the most influential figures in this movement is Bruce Goldstein, longtime repertory programmer at Film Forum in New York City and founder of Rialto Pictures. For over 50 years, Bruce has been a champion of film history—curating, restoring, and re-releasing cinematic landmarks. In early 2025, Rialto re-released Claude Lelouch’s A Man and a Woman, and coming soon is a brand-new 4K restoration of Jean-Jacques Beineix’s Diva. We sat down with Bruce Goldstein in New York to talk about the past, present, and future of repertory film programming in the U.S.—and how he’s helped shape what American audiences get to see on the big screen. repertory cinema in the US Bruce Goldstein Film Forum Rialto Pictures documentary 35mm film revival A Man and a Woman restoration Diva Jean-Jacques Beineix 4K independent theaters NYC classic films in theaters 2025 movie history preservation Inside the Arthouse podcast best film podcasts 2025 New York City film culture Film Forum #InsideTheArthouse #BruceGoldstein #RepertoryCinema #FilmForumNYC#RialtoPictures #ClassicCinema #FilmPreservation #35mmFilm#CinemaHistory #ArthouseTheaters #MovieRestoration #FilmCulture#DivaMovie #ClaudeLelouch #CinephileNation @laemmle   @InsidetheArthouse   @FilmForumNYC   @OfficialRaphaelSbarge  #arthouse #arthouseFilm @laemmle #BehindTheScenes #FilmDiscussion #MovieReview #NewReleases #NewFilmReleases #FilmLovers #Cinema #MoviePodcast #GregLaemmle #RaphaelSbarge #LaemmleTheatres #FilmDistribution #MovieIndustry #FilmBusiness Video Podcast Independent Film / Indie Film Arthouse Film / Arthouse Movie Film Lovers / Cinema New Movie Releases / New Film Releases Repertory Cinema / Classic Films / Classic Movies Filmmaker Interviews / Filmmakers (Directors, Writers, Producers) Film Distributors / Film Distribution Movie Industry / Film Business / Movie Business Behind-the-Scenes Insights Film Discussion / Movie Reviews / Film Analysis Greg Laemmle / Raphael Sbarge Laemmle Theatres Learn more about your ad choices. 🎧 Inside the Arthouse: Embeth Davidtz on Her Stunning Directorial Debut — Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight In this episode of Inside the Arthouse, we spotlight one of the most powerful new films of the year: DON’T LET’S GO TO THE DOGS TONIGHT. Based on the bestselling memoir by Alexandra Fuller, this emotionally charged coming-of-age drama marks the directorial debut of acclaimed actress Embeth Davidtz (Schindler’s List, Junebug). Set in 1970s Zimbabwe during the final days of white colonial rule, the story follows young Bobo — portrayed with incredible subtlety by newcomer Lexi Venter — as she navigates family upheaval and political unrest in a land on the brink of transformation. Drawing on her own childhood in apartheid South Africa, Davidtz brings unmatched emotional depth and authenticity to this literary adaptation — which debuted to critical acclaim at both Telluride and Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). 🎬 The film opens July 11 in New York and Los Angeles with a national release to follow. 🎙️ Don’t miss this exclusive conversation with Embeth Davidtz about her transition from actor to director, the challenges of adapting a beloved memoir, and the personal resonance of telling this story on screen. 👉 Subscribe for more conversations with the world’s most exciting independent filmmakers. @EmbethDavidtz @SonyClassics @SonyClassics @SonyPicturesClassics Website: https://dontletsgotothedogstonight.com/ @laemmle @InsidetheArthouse @OfficialRaphaelSbarge #DontLetsGoToTheDogsTonight #EmbethDavidtz #AlexandraFuller #MemoirAdaptation #TIFF2024 #TellurideFilmFestival #ComingOfAge #AfricanCinema #ZimbabweFilm #ApartheidEra #FemaleFilmmakers #WomenInFilm #IndieFilm #ArthouseCinema #InsideTheArthouse #FilmPodcast #LexiVenter #BookToFilm #NewFilmReleases #CinemaLovers #IndependentFilm #NYCTheatricalRelease #LATheatricalRelease #FilmDiscussion #FilmmakerInterview #FirstTimeDirector #greglaemmle #RaphaelSbarge #laemmletheatres #filmdiscussion #MovieReview #NewReleases #NewFilmReleases #FilmLovers #Cinema #MoviePodcast #GregLaemmle #RaphaelSbarge #LaemmleTheatres #FilmDistribution #MovieIndustry #FilmBusiness Video Podcast Independent Film / Indie Film Arthouse Film / Arthouse Movie Film Lovers / Cinema New Movie Releases / New Film Releases Repertory Cinema / Classic Films / Classic Movies Filmmaker Interviews / Filmmakers (Directors, Writers, Producers) Film Distributors / Film Distribution Movie Industry / Film Business / Movie Business Behind-the-Scenes Insights Film Discussion / Movie Reviews / Film Analysis Greg Laemmle / Raphael Sbarge Learn more about your ad choices. This is a gripping story about standing up to authoritarian control, and the personal cost of defending one’s integrity. 🇮🇷🇮🇱 Iranian-Israeli Co-Production | 🥋 Based on True Events | 🎞️ Sports, Politics & Human Rights 🗣️ Watch our interview with co-directors Zar Amir and Guy Nattiv on INSIDE THE ARTHOUSE –starting now...
