More than just a cafe, Commonfolk have created ‘The Cup That Counts’ initiative, purchasing a coffee farm in the Ugandan highlands to ensure all their coffee is ethically sourced. Sam discusses the importance of partnership with coffee producers, as well as the risks of deregulated trade. Since 2013, Commonfolk have supported thousands of farmers in Uganda, providing training for locals and nurturing sustainable coffee practices. Sam’s most recent project, documentary ‘Every Cup Counts’ follows the relationship between Commonfolk and the farmers of Mt Elgon, Uganda.
