“From Hanan: Discussing the topic of Somalia and Somaliland, I don’t want it to seem as if I am oversimplifying the complex sociopolitical history of conflict which has deep influences of colonialism and other factors. Though the Northern state of Somaliland (established in 1991) is not internationally recognized, there is a complex and distinct history here that deserves to be discussed and highlighted in much more depth than given.”
