At Sound Art Lab, Brazilian sound artist Bella Comsom is deepening her research into the electromagnetic fields surrounding trees. Using a handmade antenna, she records these inaudible signals—focusing in Struer on trees growing close to the sea. Each day, she walks along the coast, collecting field recordings and tuning in to the subtle presences of the landscape, reflecting on our relationship with the natural world. Her practice centers on listening as a way to sense the invisible connections between living beings and their environment.

In this episode, we meet composer and instrument builder Laurits Jongejan, just as he completes Sun Chariot—a striking 2x2 meter electromechanical instrument assembled from more than 2,000 parts. Drawing inspiration from the Danish Bronze Age and the cryo chambers of quantum computers, Sun Chariot blends aluminum gongs, speaker plates, and mechanical mallets into a sculptural sound machine.
Laurits explores his newly born instrument as its metallic resonance marks the beginning of its sonic life.
Not built for the stage, but for immersive exploration, Sun Chariot invites us to rethink what an instrument can be.

During her residency at Sound Art Lab, Portuguese multimedia artist Júlia Lema Barros is developing Mons Tro—an immersive audiovisual installation inspired by the Danish folklore figure Nøkken. In myth, Nøkken lures people to their deaths with music; in Júlia’s piece, it’s the seductive pull of natural sounds—wind, water, and trees—that slowly draws the listener in.
Drawing from memory, mythology, and the sonic textures of Struer’s shoreline, Júlia collects underwater recordings, wind in bottles, and the subtle acoustics of the coast to create a hypnotic world of sound—one that gently pulls the listener under, blurring the line between reality and imagination.

During their residency at Sound Art Lab, Rupert Enticknap explores voice, tuning, and embodied sound through recordings made with neglected pianos in India. These out-of-tune instruments, shaped by climate, time, and colonial histories, become collaborators in Rupert’s improvisational process—revealing unexpected resonances and microtonal textures.
Working with the voice as both a physical and emotional medium, Rupert’s practice investigates how bodies carry sound, memory, and identity. Their work embraces the overlooked—the unstable, the broken, the leftover—as fertile ground for listening and composition.

During his stay at Sound Art Lab, composer and sound artist Mads Kjeldgaard created Empty Cloud — a 12-hour generative piece designed to gently dissolve into the background.
In this episode, Mads reflects on how a life-altering concussion left him alone in the dark, with tea as his only sensory anchor — and how that slow, quiet world transformed his relationship to time, music, and attention.
Drawing from Zen practice and the poetic ephemerality of tea, Empty Cloud emerged not from ambition, but from surrender to stillness, to slowness, and to the space between notes.

In this episode, we meet low-frequency sound artist Stephanie Egedy, who composes music for subwoofers—treating them as sculptural instruments capable of delivering what she calls an “invisible sonic massage.” At Sound Art Lab, she pauses composition to develop a text reflecting on the tactile, emotional, and healing potential of bass. Drawing from club culture and experimental sound, Stephanie’s practice explores how low frequencies can bypass language and reach the body directly—offering a form of sonic care.
