Language warning: This episode is marked explicit as there is some cursing during the off-the-cuff conversation. In October 2023, I attended the Studio Both/And launch party in North Adams, MA, and moderated a panel of true crime podcasters. This is a very funny peek behind the podcast curtain with salty language (I censored one word) and lots of laughs. I feel like this man committed these crimes for self-preservation and money. There might be a chance he did give Shannon away, maybe for money. Not a great scenario considering the company he kept, but continuing the search for her may actually find her.

All or most of this could have been avoided if she had used birth control. She obviously didn't want to have a child, so using some form of birth control would have helped her avoid these unwanted pregnancies and maybe she would have been able to achieve her dream of being an Olympic athlete. Teach your children about birth control!!

She really told the cops that Jack killed himself while she slept next to him, erecting a pillow barrier (of all possible things) between them to protect poor Miriam from all of that blood?!🙄 😂😂😂

I have serious doubts about the case that Bob brings up about after 32 years of marriage, this guy just 'pummels' his wife to death. There was most likely ongoing abuse that no one saw behind closed doors. I couldn't even listen at that point because everything I heard was defense attorney rhetoric.

There is a certain comic relief to hearing the brothers' names, Tom and Jerry. Otherwise, these brothers are a group of terrible individuals and shouldn't cover shit up just because they are related. Right is right, even if no one is doing it and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it.

BPD is a diagnosis rooted in trauma - usually attachment trauma combined with sexual, neglect, the like. you aren't born with this. so it would be interesting to uncover what's been excluded from this narrative. something is definitely missing.

OMG, she was finally identified in 2022 as Ruth Marie Terry, and it was obviously her husband at the time. His name was Guy Muldavin (along with many other aliases), and he has a long list of missing women in his wake. This opened a huge rabbit hole for me to now run down. See you later!! #RIPRuthMarieTerry

With a narcissist like Joe, there is no way he was really going to commit suicide. He thought the cops were going to come in sooner than they did, and they would save him. I guarantee him and Gust (sp?) were planning this whole 'interview' thing to use in his defense and then make money after his planned acquittal. I'm surprised they didn't charge Tanja with the higher offense once Maria died. Also, I bet Joe took the wedding ring and crucifix. I'm not Catholic, but I have a lot of friends who are and my understanding is, if you're buried with your wedding ring, you're still married in the eyes of the church and he would have had a hard time arguing against that with the kids.

Cat's paternal grandfather worked for the Dane County Sheriff's Department over decades; you'd think that Chandler being a rescue diver would be something that Cat and Grandpa van Dinter might talk about - or is this an absurd thought?

I guarantee that if there is a thorough search of the area where he ran, they will most likely find his remains, just like Brandon Larson. The only way this isn't possible is if he got out of that wooded area and somehow he received help for the last 8 years, but then why didn't he call his mom? Even as a schizophrenic, I would think he would be lucid every now and then to know to call his mom.
