A red flag is when something indicates or draws attention to a problem, danger, or irregularity. A red flag also represents a warning signal or sign. When you see red flags in a relationship, what actions do you normally take? Have you ever been in a situation where you have seen red flags from your significant other, but decided to overlook them? Some of those red flags could be...controlling behavior...lack of communication...secretive past...lack of trust... I mean the list could go on and on! In this episode, Ralph and Touly discuss red flags they've experienced prior to each other as well as in their relationship. Listen in to find out those red flags, why were they avoided, and what they learned when avoiding the inevitable. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- You can find us on all podcast platforms, such as, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, iHeart Radio just to name a few. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Social Media: Instagram: @inthetrenchespodcast Twitter: @trenchespodcast Facebook: In The Trenches With The Toulons
Some issues are not easy to answer, nor are they easy to accept. While it may seem, at the time, like not addressing the issue is the best action, it is actually an abandonment of reason and honest inquiry. What if not addressing the issue has them show up in the form of something else?!?! In this episode, Ralph and Touly discuss situations in their marriage where they didn't address issues, but they still ended up showing up, just in a different format, creating more damage than originally expected. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Social Media: Facebook: In The Trenches With The Toulons Twitter: @TrenchesPodcast Instagram: @inthetrenchespodcast

A 2016 study published in the Journal of Research in Personality found that people who felt a sense of purpose accumulated more wealth than those who feel as though their lives lack meaning. The researchers discovered that individuals with a sense of purpose have a higher income and a bigger net worth than those who feel as though their lives lack meaning. Even when they controlled for known factors that predict financial success--like demographics and personality--they found a sense of purpose made a big difference in a person's financial life. The researchers suspect people who feel their lives have meaning are goal-oriented. Looking at their long-term goals likely motivates them to develop better financial habits. In this episode, Ralph and Touly jump into the Trenches with Patrice and Gerald Washington. From running a seven-figure business to basically losing it all, this couple understands what it means to chase money without a purpose. The Washington's explained their journey, and how they grew closer together through the tough times. They supported each other while rebuilding what was taken from them, but this time it was to chase purpose, not money. Key Takeaways from this episode: Never take anything for granted because before you know it, it could all be gone Coming together through the hardest times makes you that much stronger And chase purpose, not money About Patrice: Patrice Washington is an award-winning author, transformational speaker, hope-restoring coach, and media personality. Patrice got her start as your favorite personal finance expert, “America’s Money Maven”, having tremendous success with her “mindset approach” to personal finance. She has since expanded her brand and mission, encouraging women to chase purpose, not money. Patrice is committed to redefining the term “wealth”, using its original meaning, “well-being”. She encourages women to have “wealth” in all aspects of their lives by pursuing their purpose, being fulfilled, and earning more without ever chasing money. Through her teachings, Patrice empowers women to look at life through the lens of abundance and opportunity, instead of lack and scarcity. As the founder of Redefining Wealth and The Earn More Money Movement for Women, Patrice has built a thriving community of high-achieving women committed to creating a powerful life vision--in their careers, home, health, and personal finances. About Gerald: With a longstanding history of taking brands and businesses to the next level of success, Gerald’s leadership, innovation, and business acumen leave only two words to describe him: Empire Builder. Today he’s building a family empire that includes several multi-unit real estate holdings, a transportation company, brand management division and now transformation arm via his speaking, coaching programs and new book, Don’t Just Start a Business, Build an Empire. Proverbs 17:16
Wealth is the abundance of valuable financial assets or physical possessions which can be converted into a form that can be used for transactions. In today's society, if you possess a substantial net worth you are considered wealthy. Net worth is defined as the current value of one's assets. So what does it take to be wealthy or have a substantial net worth? Why does the African American community struggle more than other communities? According to The Road to Zero Wealth report published by Prosperity Now and the Institute for Policy Studies, the median wealth of black Americans will fall to zero by 2053 if current trends continue. Did they say ZERO?!?! This is a shock and very concerning as many African Americans have worked hard to make a living, but have nothing to show for it. That's because it was never taught within many households or that if we work together we are 10x stronger. A near-death experience (NDE) is a personal experience associated with death or impending death. These experiences are associated with changes in personality and outlook on life. Dr. Kenneth Ring (Professor of Psychology), during his studies, identified a consistent set of value and belief changes associated with people who have had a near-death experience. Among these changes, he found that individuals have a greater appreciation for life, higher self-esteem, greater compassion for others, a heightened sense of purpose and self-understanding, elevated spirituality, and a feeling of being more intuitive. In this episode, Ralph and Touly jump into the Trenches with Artisha Bolding, Artisha shares the story of her near death experience from 2018. We were brought up believing in fairy tales where Prince Charming comes in to sweep the heroine off her feet, whisking her away to be married. Growing up we would imitate playing husband & wife, with children, a dog, and a white picket fence. For women, some were probably told that they needed a man to complete them. Unfortunately, real life isn't a fairy tale, but many women don't know that until they begin dating. This week in the Trenches, Ralph and Touly welcome a guest who doesn't want to be identified, but you can refer to her as Alice. Alice discusses how she struggles with a manipulative boyfriend who likes to control her using scare tactics. She also talks about fairy-tales and how watching certain shows has tainted her perspective on what life/love. Key Takeaways From Episode: When manipulating a person with low self-esteem, you are attacking their weakness Telling yourself something nice everyday to help build your self-esteem And The Bachelor is a TV show that doesn't represent what a relationship is truly about.
