Rearrangement, remix and remaster of a 2006 collaboration with Fran Dagostino.
Fran, an excellent guitar player and an even better human being, encouraged me very much in pursuing my interest in creating music.
Fran died yesterday after a short illness.
This is for his family and friends.
Fran - guitar
Bill - keyboard, additional MIDI, effects
Having fun with the effects settings on the guitar in "Antinomy", this time applied to the keyboard. Well, 'fun' if you like psychedelic/drone metal.
Bill - keyboard, home-made loop, drummer parameters, effects

10/5/2010 note - revisit some of the delay to clarify the melody.
Experiment with voice, space, delays, filters, using drum replacement on voice, phase distortion, ....
Bill - vocals, modified generated MIDI, effects
3/17/2010 note - check audio levels, EQ, review song form.
This should be it for changes to this one for now.
1000 tweaks since the last one, many percussion changes, added more instrument tracks, mucho MIDI velocity differences, and re-EQ'ed guitar and drum tracks.
And, of course, a tip of my hat to Ringo Starr for the captivating drum beat to Tomorrow Never Knows.
Bill - keyboard, additional MIDI, effects
3/2/2010 note - work on middle section guitar and percussion and stereo balance everywhere.
New Pixelmator out today.
A Death Nougat Track.
On the advice of RC Andrews, I cleaned up the the sound a bit from the previous version. I removed some reverb plug-ins and delay plug-ins in the channel strips.
On a whim, I also extended one section by a bar, trimmed the ending and updated the song art.
Since there is no "space rock" or "psychedelic rock" genre, I have placed this under industrial and metal.
Bill - keyboard, various MIDI, effects
3/17/2010 notes - lower audio levels, check EQ, check timing on lead part, check bass part, check drum parts, ultimately should be in same collection as Montaa de la Muerte.
I couldn't sleep because I kept on hearing this and knew it needed to change.
This is version 5 of Unfinished Business. I have changed the arrangement and altered the tempo (from 110 to 80 bpm for the first 16 bars, and to 100 bpm for the remainder).
Version 3 from 2006, Ssenisub Dehsinifer, has vocals by Mystified.
Version 4 is from earlier this week.
As always, comments and advice are welcome.
Maybe I'll wake up later today and say to myself "What was I #$and!@# thinking with those timbres and harmonies?!?!?!"
Bill - keyboard, additional MIDI, effects
Note from 3/14/2010: what does this sound like with just the added harmony parts?
12/14/10 note -revisit percussion.
The original performances are actually from 2005; remixed and remastered today.
I applied the same 'old soundtrack' production technique that I applied to RePose.
In this case, I think that the production technique had the benefits of masking some of the pops that occurred since I wasn't using a pop screen, influencing the listener to accept some of the imperfections that are evident, and emphasizing the non-modernity of my quirky vocal stylings.
Bill - all voices
3/17/2010 - Re-EQ, check reverb settings, stereo balance.
A new version of a piece from 2005.
I kept the idiosyncratic timing that was in the original that I found oddly charming but, at the same time, would make it difficult for others to play along.
This was purposely mastered to sound like part of an old movie soundtrack.
Bill - keyboard, additional MIDI
3/17/2010 note - add new section in middle, possibly outro, check timing, EQ,
Experiment using 14 synths playing either the lowest note or the highest note of which they are capable, each loop a different length, being sent through two delays in sequence.
Bill - keyboard, additional MIDI, self-made loops, effects
Note from 3/14/2010: check stereo balance, audio levels
Yup.
A Death Nougat Track.
Death Nougat says "rtt ftshmsm bbb"
A Death Nougat Track.
Title inspired by a great line in Orson Welle's "Touch of Evil", spoken by Marlene Dietrich's character Tana to Orson Welle's character, Hank Quinlan.
The film's lead actor was Charlton Heston (RIP), who had the sense not to attempt a Mexican accent for his character, Mike Vargas.
