Team USA completed a huge comeback to beat France 97-79 in the FIBA Women’s World Cup championship game and claim its fifth consecutive gold medal.They fell behind by 14 in the first half after France used a 16-0 run, but they responded before halftime. Angel Reese forced a turnover that led to a Caitlin Clark 3-pointer at the buzzer, cutting the deficit to 45-43.From there, Team USA took over. Team USA is headed to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup championship game after beating Spain 76-66 in Saturday’s semifinal.They overcame another slow start and led by just three at halftime. Neither team shot 40% from the field, and Team USA went only 3 of 18 from 3-point range, but its defense and free-throw shooting carried the day. The Americans made 27 of 35 free throws and held Spain in check enough late to win by double digits.Breanna Stewart led the way with 16 points and six rebounds in 29 minutes. Aliyah Boston added six points and seven rebounds and played important minutes late, while Caitlin Clark was limited to one point and one assist in 17 minutes after leading Team USA in minutes in each of its previous games.Team USA finished with more turnovers (15) than assists (13) and still look disconnected offensively outside of a few strong stretches.
