Noita is amazingly singular. A game that is fractally deep, yet instantly understandable in its incomprehensibility. A game that is massively frustrating, something that relishes in how little it cares about you, while also letting you impact the entire world down to each precision-modeled grain of sand. There is nothing like it, and honestly, that's probably a good thing because god damn it's past midnight, I have to be at work tomorrow, and after editing this ep there's nothing more I want than to crack it back open and have a cheeky little run. Much like the absolutely horrendous evil killer sun robot at the end of stage 2-1, this game wants to be bigger than the tiny screen it's confined to. A full inventory of this game's design decisions takes about twenty minutes. A technical mastery of the GBA is on display, but as late as it came it - does it matter? Is there room in your life for a forgotten, obsolete, well-crafted retro game? Is there room in your robot heart for love? This is a game that lives under a lot of very unkind shadows: the shadow of it's predecessor, What The Golf, a very fun and unique game and one that we played in the perfect environment (as a group, eighteen hours into a twenty four hour stream). What the car is in the shadow of the modern gaming environment, where a game that definitely has twenty dollars of work in it is still twenty whole dollars. You gotta love a roguelike deckbuilder. It's the peanutbutter and chocolate of genres. The randomness and run-to-run differentiation, with the short-loop tactics of building a deck. It's so good together! Except sometimes you get a peanutbutter guy and then spend the next ten minutes looking for mr. chocolate until you hit the big ugly jelly boss and he blaps you back to the goddamn home screen.  I'm not mad. I'm not mad! Don't let them tell you I'm mad. This game is too cute for that. Editor's note: feather screwed up her audio file and we had to pull the Craig backup! First, big ups to Craig, he's got our back (most of the time).
