Today, we speak to Tim Minchin. Tim is a composer, actor, satirist, singer, writer and an all-round extraordinary entertainer. His career skyrocketed when he composed Matilda the Musical, and he’s just released his new album: Tim Minchin Time Machine, ahead of his 2025 Australian Tour ‘Songs The World Will Never Hear’.
Twelve years ago, Tim was awarded an honorary doctorate at the University of WA when he shared his 9 Life Lessons with the graduating class. His speech went viral, with 5.6 million views on YouTube. So, instead of our regular format, we’re mixing things up this Tuesday and releasing a Life Lessons episode featuring the very philosophical Tim.
In this conversation, Tim speaks about becoming a parent, the 30-year relationship he shares with his wife, Sarah, marriage, fidelity, and how they’ve stuck together, amongst all the fame. He opens up about how he’s dealt with public criticism, why he’ll never consume something he’s created, the importance of setting micro ambitions and achievable goals, and why it all comes down to luck.

Hello!
Today, we speak to ex-AFL player Mitch Brown. Mitch likely needs no introduction – a few weeks ago, his interview with The Daily Aus made worldwide news and AFL history when he came out as the first openly male bisexual player. In 130 years, no player in the men’s league has ever identified as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and the AFL is one of the last professional male sports leagues in the world for someone to identify as queer.
In this conversation, Mitch speaks about moving to Perth at 18 to play for West Coast, and how it feels to be so apologetically himself after years of hiding his identity. We also discuss the response to his announcement, how he feels about the AFL clubs that remained silent, and the three core values that make up the relationship he shares with his girlfriend, Lou.

Today, we speak to award-winning writer Lech Blaine. Lech has had an extraordinary life. In 2009, he survived a head-on collision that killed three of his best mates, which he wrote about vividly in his debut memoir, Car Crash. His latest family memoir, though, Australian Gospel, is an astonishing true story of his unconventional family held together by love and courage.
Lech grew up in rural Queensland with his parents, Tom and Lenore Blaine, who were no strangers to the foster care system; they provided a warm and loving home to hundreds of children before they permanently raised Steven, John and Hannah, the biological children of Christian fanatics, Michael and Mary Shelley.
