Africana Studies
Africana Studies is an interdisciplinary program offering a major, a minor, study abroad opportunities, and campus symposia that offer students the opportunity to study the Black experience in Africa, the Americas, and throughout the African Diaspora.
Arts Studies
Arts Studies is an interdisciplinary program offering a major, a minor, a computer music studio, the Arts Now series, and a biannual arts studies symposia. The program’s purpose is to develop students’ understanding and appreciation of visual, performance, music, and film artistic achievements. Students in the Arts Studies program choose a concentration from the following:
* Film
* Music
* Visual Arts
International Studies
The International Studies major promotes understanding of international connections in the political, social and cultural arena. The program includes language study towards proficiency, studies of cultural diversity, global economic dynamics, and the complexities of shifting geo-political relations.
Science, Technology, and Society
Science, Technology, and Society (STS) seeks to explore and understand the many ways that science and technology shape culture, values, and institutions, and how such factors shape science and technology.
Dual Degree Programs
Five dual-degree programs enable CHASS students to combine scientific or professional study with a focus in the humanities or social sciences. Through successful completion of these programs, students earn two undergraduate degrees, one in CHASS and the second in one of NC State’s other Colleges.

Self-Design BA and Self-Design BS
The self-designed major program exists to allow undergraduate students to design a major in an area of academic interest that crosses disciplinary boundaries.
Women’s and Gender Studies
The Women’s and Gender Studies Program at North Carolina State University provides students with interdisciplinary perspectives on women’s and gender issues from a wide variety of cultures, backgrounds, and historical eras.
