In this episode, Isabella interviewed future Dr. Jacob Andrew who applied and matched into an anesthesiology residency! Jacob shares why he chose anesthesiology and how it's similar and different to other specialties. Even as someone who is not interested in anesthesiology, I found this conversation fascinating! Jacob has been involved in a ton of interesting extracurriculars at UMass Chan Medical School including a teaching elective and a historical research project (didn't even know those existed in medicine!). Tune in for more!
In this episode, Isabella interviews Ben Potee, a fourth year medical student at UMass Chan Medical School. He applied and matched into a general surgery residency! His advice is great for everyone, regardless if you're interested in the surgical field or not! That being said, if you are, Ben offers advice that I haven't seen online or heard from people in the field. Trust me, you don't want to miss this one.
In this episode, Isabella interviews future Dr. Sara Wang who applied and matched in Family Medicine! Sara shares why she chose family medicine, what she has been involved in during medical school, and even breaks down the meaning of certain acronyms med students hear but never have the chance to understand what they mean. Tune in if you're interested in family medicine or want to be more involved in your school (great advice about curriculum and extracurriculars!).
In this episode, Isabella interviews Jesse Sardell, a fourth year medical student who applied and matched into a pediatric residency! Jesse shares valuable advice to those interested in pursuing peds and how where you may want to practice influences what you get involved in during med school. He also shared study tips that everyone from day 1 should focus on. Tune in for more!
In this episode, Isabella interviews future Dr. Muhammet Ozdemir who applied into internal medicine. Tune in to hear how Muhammet fell in love with internal medicine and what he did during his four years of medical school. This interview offers eye-opening advice, especially about how to spend your time in medical school wisely (hint hint, it's not just about studying all the time!).
In this episode, I share tips about the secondary application, go over the most popular questions I encountered, and explain how I tackled them. I would definitely listen to this episode *right* after you submit your primary application.
In this episode, I dive into the personal statement piece of the medical school application! I share what the personal statement means to me, how I structured my essay, and read snippets of my essay. Of course, I had to end the episode with some tips. I hope this episode helps you write the best personal statement ever!
This episode is for anyone and everyone applying in a future cycle because if you're applying in the 23-24 cycle, you've better already gotten your letters in order! In this episode, I give advice about how to find letter writers, how to keep up with them, how to ask for a rec letter, and when to ask. Most importantly, I talk at length about the supplemental information packet I included in every rec letter request. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!
This episode is essential for *anyone* applying to med school. The activity section is one of the most important parts of your application to medical school so if you're struggling or want extra advice, this one is for you. In this episode, I go over the basics of the activity section, share what strategy I used to write mine, read over two activity descriptions, and share necessary tips.
