Tupac and Biggie grew up in very different environments, but both boys aimed to become bigger than they were. Tupac was given a heavy weight of responsibility from his activist mother, but Tupac was also hugely creative and he hated being poor. Big was a bit spoiled by his jamaican born mother, but the neighborhood he lived in showed him how hard life could be. Both boys felt the pull of leadership, but what would they do with this calling?

By the end of the 1980s Rap had REALLY begun to take off in a way no one expected: especially not the music industry.
