There aren’t many restaurants that last 50 years, let alone under a single owner, and this week, 14850 Dining has learned that Kelly’s Dockside Kafe will close this weekend, a little over a year after the building and business were listed for sale. Their last day of operation will be Sunday, November 2nd.

Three years after Chef Matt Hummel took over at the helm of Hazelnut Kitchen in Trumansburg, the owner says he’s closing the iconic farm-to-table eatery on Thursday, October 30th. It’s “to take a step back to prioritize my family and think about what’s next for the space,” he said on Saturday.

This week, 14850 Dining is carrying a tune up the hill to K-HOUSE Karaoke Lounge, which has a new tiny kitchen pop-up open four days a week. They’re featuring food from the Lotus, the new Korean restaurant that opened in downtown Ithaca last spring.

Staff at the Applebee’s Grill & Bar location in Ithaca’s northeast were informed Wednesday that the restaurant will close in May, 14850 Dining has learned. The last date of operation for the eatery on North Triphammer Road in the Village of Lansing is May 19th.

Almost 30 years after Viva Taqueria opened on a corner in Downtown Ithaca, and almost two years after the expanded eatery moved across the street, the longtime owners, Ursula and Pete Browning, have sold the restaurant to a new owner. Katie Stone tells 14850 Dining the basics will stay the same, but she has several ideas for Viva Taqueria & Cantina’s new era on the Ithaca Commons.

The Ithaca Coffee Company is closing its doors at Triphammer Marketplace this winter, but we’re glad to report that the business will live on with a new focus in a new home.
