Jacked
Description
Have you ever had a dream? Something you wanted so bad you just couldn’t let it go? For a group of kids in Harlem in the Eighties, their dreams would change pop music forever. Teddy Riley, Timmy Gatling, and Aaron Hall form a group called Guy that would fuse hip-hop and R&B and launch a new sound. By the early Nineties, the New Jack Sound dominated the pop music charts: Bell Biv Devoe, Bobby Brown, Boyz II Men, and many more. But the rise of the New Jack sound would come at a cost, and not everyone would make it to the top. Hosted by Taraji P Henson. From Wondery and Universal Music Group, Jacked is a story of friendship, gangsters, double-crosses, and big dreams.
Hosted by Golden Globe winner Taraji P. Henson

A Kyle West production that never gets mentioned is "I've Waited Too Long" by Chéyanne. One of my favorite songs of all time of any genre. or period.
In her interview with Kyle West, why did Carla Hall pronounce The GYRLZ the GUY-RAHS?
Amazing Content on this Podcast. I Like it. Thanks for sharing. https://www.westpennpower.us/

Great episode!!! Loved ALL the New Jack Swing, R&B, +others history, historic tidbits, and interviews. Awesome job guys!!!!
The Suspense is killing me!! Y'all took so long to get to a cheating music manager y'all had me convinced he was innocent until you laid the facts on down. Wow! Love the storytelling, behind the scene tidbits, narrator's voice, and suspense!!
Great story telling of the origin of #NewJackSwing. This podcast takes me back to the mid 80s early 90s, and let me tell you I am enjoying it!
This is one of the best music podcasts produced. looking foreword to more from this production team.
I cannot get enough of this podcast. By the time I found "Jacked", five episodes were available. I binged all five consecutively. I was amazed how Guy was formed and felt terrible for Timmy being kicked out. I could not hold my excitement to find out Teddy Riley had been involved with some of my favorite music memories of my childhood like Doug E. Fresh, Kool Moe D, and Keith Sweat. I would recommend this to anybody who was a child of the New Jack Era.
Wonderful podcast! I had no idea of how GUY started. I can't wait for future episodes.
One of the best music podcasts I have ever heard. This is a side of music that is rarely dived into. I cant wait for future episodes
