Jerk Or Gent?

Is that person a legendary jerk or an extraordinary gentleman?

This is probably one of the greatest existential questions of all time. It’s obviously right up there with “How did we

get here” or “what came first the chicken or the egg?” A question that some people would argue cannot be

answered at all. Well those people are wrong. Thankfully the Jerk or Gent podcast was created so you can have a

definitive answer. You’re welcome.

This podcast will ultimately and conclusively determine if Andrew Jackson was a maniacal megalomaniac,

Condoleezza Rice was a noble ambassador, or if John Wayne was a wee bit prejudice (ok more like unapologetically

xenophobic). As you know, this is no small feat. That is why cohosts, Ira Neal Kinard IV and Erich Pfingsten have been

tasked… no compelled… nay, I say destined to take on this burden. Each week a past, present or fictional character

will be discussed to conclude if they are a legendary jerk or an extraordinary gentleman. (And yes that is a reference

to the 2003 film League of Extraordinary Gentlemen)

So what is the format?

Great question! I mean it’s no “do an individual’s actions define them as a person” but I like your curiosity… Well as

we have already established everyone is up for discussion whether or not they are dead, alive or fictitious. Ok maybe

not everyone, I think we can all agree Hitler was a huge douche. Our dialogues will try to focus on those that have an

inherent paradox.

Basically, the format is pretty simple:

1. Pick a subject

2. Discuss the subject as a whole, i.e. bio, interesting facts, etc.

-This is honestly the hardest part because there are so many great choices.

-Thanks Google!

-DISCLAIMER: Neal and Erich are not technically historical scholars, but they do at least 30 minutes of

research, so that qualifies them.

-This is the next hardest part. Who wants to have to argue that Superman was super mean?

-This is up to you, the listener. We give you the knowledge and you apply it.

3. Argue for or against said victim

4. Establish if they are a jerk or gent (or Lady or Tramp for females)

Why?

There you go, getting back to “what happens when we die” type questions. Why what?

Why do a podcast like this?

Thank you for being more specific. Well we already argue a lot, so we naturally concluded that if we recorded

ourselves people would want to listen. We thought it would be a really fun way of learning more about people and

have an excuse to hang out more. Really though, we have very important things to say and our discussions will

change your life for the better. This is very serious business. Try to think of the stress and pressure that is a

byproduct of this podcast. Could you defend a total jerk and live with yourself? Thankfully you don’t have to put

yourself or your loved ones through that. Again, you’re welcome.

Please subscribe and let us know what you think of the podcast!

Thanks for listening Jerks and Gents,
