In this concluding chapter of To Darkness Fled, Achan leads his first war council and receives an answer from his future bride.
The knights confer to decide who shall become Achan's bride while Sparrow watches from within the castle walls.
Achan and his men arrive in Carmine. Achan meets Duchess Amal and confronts Sir Eagan as to Sparrow's whereabouts.
When Achan learns that Vrell has left, he confronts Sir Gavin, then Arman.
After finding themselves back in Mitspah, Achan and Vrell have a heart to heart.
Achan fights Esek, then meets an opponent even more fierce.
When Achan discovers that Vrell is being held captive in Esek's camp, he tells the knights he is going to get her back, whether they like it or not.
The other traitor is discovered when he kidnaps Vrell.
Now that Achan has discovered that Sparrow is a girl, how is he to act around her? If she wants to be treated like one of the men, she's going to get tousled like one.
As Achan continues his search for a traitor, he sees Polk attacking Sparrow and tries to stop Polk.
The army finally leaves Darkness and arrives in Mitspah. Achan meets Lord Yarden and a stray boy. And Vrell suffers through entrance duty with Kurtz.
As Achan and his new army make their way to Mitspah, Achan starts a massive search for the traitor.
Tsaftown throws a banquet in Achan's honor, but Esek shows up and ruins everything.
The knights return to the Ivory Spit with Sir Eagan and Kurtz. Sir Gavin is wounded, and Sir Eagan and Vrell do what they can to help while Achan and Kurtz get into mischief in the tavern.
