Joseph Tate is an illustrator and artist who draws inspiration from British and traditional styles and creates drawings for the Instagram age. Hailing from Nigeria, he began drawing to express his views on fashion and has since grown a business working with well known luxury brands. Tate's love for British culture and his father's influence on dressing well have shaped his artistic style. His love of philosophy stems a conversation about the works of Roger Scruton and Thomas Carlyle, his love of Military dress meant that we discussed the beauty and masculinity within military garbs from the Zulu tribe to Victorian England, and his passion for sartoiral affairs flows through in his work and this conversation. Thomas Wunderlich is a cliff diver and self-described "send addict". Cliff diving is a sport which just stops you in your tracks, especially when you see videos like Thomas’s which are over 30m off bridges. But contrary to what you think when initially seeing these jumps, you’ll learn in the episode that it’s all very calculated and safe - there is months, and at times years behind these jumps with endless visualisation and safety checks.  In this episode we discuss a host of themes about cliff diving:  the process behind finding a place to jump  Why they throw a rock before jumping  How Thomas gets in the zone before a big jump  How freestyle differs from the Red Bill Cliff Divers And I ask about Thomas’s two most famous jumps: one off a 33m bridge into a river, and the other in the middle of a shopping mall.  It’s a really fun episode, and I hope it does its part in explaining the process behind the antics which we see online.  Find Thomas on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/senddicted/?next=%2Flucalar%2F&hl=fr Find me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joe.reilly/?hl=en

His training, special recovery techniques and a mysterious FKT attempt in the future.  From all that to Strava and facial hair, we covered the serious to the not-so-serious, and it was a really enjoyable conversation.  Don’t forget to subscribe to the show if you haven’t already, it’s the best way to support what I’m doing, and if you want to be extra kind, do consider giving us a 5-star review.
