The next storm system moving southeast from the Great Lakes states to the Mid Atlantic brings snow from the Great Lakes into Pennsylvania, New York New Jersey Long Island Connecticut later Friday into part of Saturday before exiting to the east. Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35pm 12/22/2025 We start Christmas week dry across much of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland & Virginia. We do have two weather systems in play with the first one early to midday Tuesday with snow and rain from New Jersey and Pennsylvania northeast into New England. Most areas will see a coating to a few inches from this. A stronger system is coming for the end of the week with snow ice and rain later Friday into Saturday. In between much of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic will be dry Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35pm 12/17/2025 The Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic from Northern Virginia to New York/New Jersey and the metro areas northeast into Connecticut and Massachusetts are setting up for Heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds Thursday night into Friday morning ahead of a cold front. In the West from Minnesota and the Dakotas to Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and Washington stormy weather continues with heavy flooding rains, heavy mountain snows with some areas experiencing blizzard conditions, & high winds gusting to 60 to 70 mph will continue into early next week though there will be some short breaks from time to time. This is due to an "atmospheric river" of moisture from the subtropical Pacific to the Northwestern US and Southwestern Canada. Areas from Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York & New England will see a genuine warm up late in the week with above average temperatures. This means that the next storm system which will move from the Great Lakes into Southeastern Canada will have a cold front extending southward to the Gulf States. Most of these systems are weak and lack moisture. Each front is followed by a cold air mass behind it. The coldest air mass of the season is likely to arrive next weekend.
