Gale force winds are forecast tonight and winds along the Outer Banks of North Carolina could gust to 60 or even 70 mph later tonight into Thursday. Joe & Joe Weather Show Podcast LIVE 7:35pm 8/19/2025 Major Hurricane Erin continues northwestward today and we have Tropical Storm Watches up for the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We continue to forecast Erin to turn northward Wednesday and northeastward Thursday east of North Carolina. However Erin is going to grow to become a large hurricane in terms of geographic coverage. Tropical Storm Force winds are forecast for the Outer Banks of North Carolina and we could see those winds increase across the Middle Atantic coast to Southern New England Wednesday night and Thursday. Erin could pass close to the Northern Leewards and then pass just to the east of the easternmost Bahamas before recurving to the northeast into the Atlantic. Scattered thunderstorms continue in the Mid Atlantic states this evening and tonight. Very warm and mostly humid conditions will continue Friday into Sunday in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic.
