Two storms, one on each coast is bringing heavy rain and the potential for heavy mountain snows. The first winter storm watches are up for some counties in West Virginia there are more to come later today. Winter Storm & Blizzard Warnings are posted for the West Coast from Washington State south to Northern California. Some drought relief is coming to the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states with rain heavy at times Wednesday night into Thursday morning. This will be followed by showery rains and mountain snows later Thursday and lasting into early Saturday.

A blocking storm in the Northwest Atlantic and near Atlantic Canada is going to prevent low pressure from the Great Lakes and its trailing cold front from bringing rain to the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic. Instead rain from the Great Lakes to the Ohio and Tennessee Valley will be squeezed southeastward and heading for Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. The drought will continue into next week as will wild fire risk for areas of the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic. A new tropical storm is likely to form in the Western Caribbean by the end of the week and that could have ramifications for Florida next week. Weather in 5, 11/4/2024 A warm front lies across Upstate NY where are seeing some rain from there to Northern New England. Southern New England to South Carolina you are seeing mostly to partly sunny skies and another warmup is coming Tuesday. Record highs are possible Wednesday. Severe weather and tornadoes are breaking out in the Southern Plains to the Middle Mississippi Valley. Tropical Depression 18 is forecast to become Tropical Storm Rafael on the 4pm advisory. Hurricane Warnings are up for the Cayman Islands,. Hurricane Watches are up for Western Cuba. Tropical Storm Warnings are posted for Jamaica. This system is forecast to become a hurricane by Wednesday morning and then head into the Gulf of Mexico where its future is somewhat uncertain.
