Description

Hi there, John Stall here. Among other things, I'm a semi retired, Canadian broadcaster who's been bitten by the Big boat bug after moving to Ladysmith on Vancouver Island in the PNW a couple of years ago. My learning curve was steep but not daunting. This podcast is a mash-up of discussions for those who share a passion for the rise and fall of the sea and the vessels that carry us. It's for those who dream of the recreational or live-aboard lifestyle from regular people who have been there and done that and still floating. Bits & bites about boat stuff. The good, the bad and the ugly.

This current drama will end soon one way or another but this conversation with Dr. Joe MacInnis will live on. Here's a first hand sense of what it is like down in the deep along side the Titanic from one who has been there. MacInnes was among the first to dive on the Titanic in a submersible back in 1987. I first met him in the early 80's. He is an Oceanographer, Medical doctor, Marine scientist and specialist in high risk, high stress leadership. He agree to chat with me as the frantic search is underway.
Clive and Patricia Pemberton bought the Iconic work boat that had converted to a luxury cruiser in the mid 80's. The Ranger is more than 50 years old. Built in 1962 by the BC Forest Service as the Queen of the fleet. The Pemberton's live aboard year round so I joined them for some boat banter about what it's like to live on the Salish sea.
I spent time with the lovely couple Clive and Patricia Pemberton who own and live aboard the Iconic Hecate Ranger which was build for the BC Forest service in 1962. Converted in the mid 80's to a luxury cruiser.
The Hecate Ranger is one of the most Iconic vessels on Canada's West Coast. She was built in 1962 for the BC Forest Service as the largest boat ever built for the fleet. She operated as a work boat till the mid 80's and was then converted to a luxury cruising vessel. I went onboard to chat with it's current owners Clive and Patricia Pemberton about their live aboard lifestyle.
