The year was about 1000 BC. King David was in firm control of the Jewish nation. He was making all the right decisions, he was blessed by God, the promise of the kingdom was given to him and to his descendants forever, a temple would be built by one of his sons for the glory and praise of God, and then it happened. At the height of his success David fell into sin with Bathsheba. They committed adultery which led to an unsuccessful cover-up which led to a murder which led to another cover-up which was then exposed. It was a sad day for David and for the kingdom and for the Lord. Psalm 3 is about God's discipline.
Jesus has come to claim the nations for God. Jesus has come to quiet the rebellion of the earth, to subdue the nations of the world, and to reinstate the reign of God. Today we are going to discover how he does this and how you and I get to be part of it.
What makes God laugh? Did you know that God laughs? Three times in Psalms it says this. Today, we are going to learn one surprising reason why he laughs and how this can bring great comfort to our souls.

The first word of the first chapter in the book of Psalms is "happy." The last word in Psalm 1 is perish. It is as if the writer is saying, "I am holding out two paths for you. One brings happiness, one will cause you to perish. Which path will you choose?"
Your backgound does not matter, your past does not matter, your sins and failures do not matter. You can be filled up with the fullness of God!
Paul uses imagery from the agricultural world and the building world to show us what our priorities should be in prayer - to go deep into the love of God.
Learn how Christ can dwell in your daily experience. When we come to Christ, we get all of him, but he does he get all of us?
To be filled up with God, we must have our inner person strengthened. This is what Paul asks for, for our inner man to grow strong by faith. What does this mean for us?
Ephesians 3:14-21 contains one of Paul's most majestic prayers. In it, he prays through a sequence of steps that God takes his people through so that they can be filled up to God's fullness. Listen today, learn the four steps, and add them to your praying.
Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21 is among his most beautiful, but it almost did not get prayed. Learn why!
How could two short chapters in the Bible written over 2500 years ago by a man with a strange name have such a powerful effect upon people today? Let's listen and find out.
We have a picture of the grace of God, that God would take the grandson of an evil king and use him to advance his purposes in the world. God reverses the curses and blesses the worst of us for his glory.
How can be we become holy before the Lord? Does it happen automatically because we go to church and hang out with other dedicated people? Or do we need to take responsibility?
Many of us worry because we wonder if we are going to have enough in uncertain economic times. Here is God's reassuring word of promise – "The silver is mine and the gold is mine. It all belongs to me. You will have enough."
Any time we are discouraged, we must pause and reflect on who our God is. Any time we want to give up we need to take our eyes off our discouraging circumstances and put them on the Lord who is the ruler of all things.
One of the greatest promises of Scripture is God saying, "I will be with you." Today we will hear this promise made to his people who lived 500 years before the birth of Christ. What did it mean to them? What can it mean for us?
So here we have two men – the high priest in Israel and the governor of the people who is a descendant of David. They have already done well in that they led the people back to the land but somewhere along the way they lost their focus. How did Haggai get them back, and how can he get us back?
Have you seen anyone get off to great start and then stop? They just stopped doing what they were supposed to do. Why? The prophet Haggai talks about this in his little book.
