Josh Stein became Box's first outside investor in 2006 when he led the Series A for the enterprise document and collaboration software firm. That investment paid off in early 2015, when Box's successful IPO earned the company more than $1 billion in enterprise value. Stein sponsored DFJ's investment in Yammer in 2012 (acquired that same year for $1.2 billion by Microsoft) and in Tremor video (IPO 2013), real estate brokerage Redfin and Yardbarker, which got snapped up by Fox Sports. An avid poker player, Stein says that poker principles guided his investments in Box, Yammer, Redfin, and Twilio. Before joining DFJ, Stein was VP of Telephia and cofounder and CSO of ViaFone.
