Why do I feel hungry all the time? I used to wonder that too, until I went 72 hours without food and hunger taught me a lesson I didn’t expect.
Years ago, before I learned to listen to my body, I used intermittent fasting to manage my weight.
The first time I fasted, I did it on purpose.
I’d just come off night shift at Arnott’s, the cookie company, during a new product launch, and I decided to see how long I could go.
I flew back to Sydney and made it 24 hours without food.
I remember marvelling that I could go that long. I’d never done it before.
Over the years I worked up to a 72 hour fast. It taught me more about hunger than anything else has.
Do I do it now? No. It makes me miserable. I have zero plans to ever do one again.
But what happened on the third morning changed how I think about hunger for good.

I’ve been thinking about how to improve bone density naturally ever since a friend of mine, similar age to me, was diagnosed with osteopenia last year.
She’s mid-50s. So am I.
It got me thinking. I was pretty confident I’d be fine. But I figured it was time to stop assuming and actually get tested.
Here in Australia, the government doesn’t fund a bone density test until you turn 70. So I paid for it myself. I see that as an investment in my health, not an expense.
Am I eating too much protein to lose weight? That’s what a friend asked me last month, over coffee in Sydney.
She’s in perimenopause and her doctor told her she needed more protein or she’d lose muscle mass.
So she’d been forcing down 120 grams a day. Sick of roast chicken. Sick of the whole thing.
And her weight? Kept going up.
Clothes stopped fitting.
She felt terrible.
So here’s what I told my friend…

I want to stop mindless eating — that’s the exact thought I had last night, standing in my kitchen with a handful of macadamias I don’t even remember picking up.
My Irishman had left the jar out after breakfast. Next thing I know, macadamias are in my mouth. Then I’m going back for more.
And I catch myself thinking, “Whoa, what am I doing?”
This used to be me all the time. Before I learned to listen to my body, I’d spend whole afternoons in the kitchen, picking.
Grabbing random bites here, there, everywhere.
These days it’s rare. But it still creeps back in… which is exactly why I want to talk about it.

For years, Sandra avoided mirrors.
She dreaded clothes shopping.
And she’s not in many photos with her own kids growing up — because she couldn’t bear to be in front of a camera.
Within twelve months of joining Naturally Healthy Club, all of that changed.
Sandra can look in the mirror now.
She goes clothes shopping without dread.
And she’s done it while still travelling the world and eating the food she loves.
Here’s how she did it.
Your turn
Sandra spent decades believing her body and her love of travel, food and family life were at odds with ever feeling calm around food.
She was wrong. It took less than twelve months to prove it to herself.
She put it best herself: “If I can do it, anybody else can, because I had some major issues there.”
If any part of her story sounds familiar — the Naturally Healthy Club is where that changes.
Not through another restrictive plan, but through rebuilding your relationship with food and your body, for good.
Don’t do what Sandra almost did and wait another six months to find out.
