Lana del Rey + Psychedelia + Drag Queens #23

In 2019, Lizzy Grant a.k.a. Lana Del Rey released her 6th studio album: "Norman Fuck!ng Rockwell!". An album full of soft rock, psychedelic pop, and languid piano ballads that sounds just delicious. In this record that the singer coproduced with Jack Antonoff, singer of the band "Bleachers", and many others; songs like “The Greatest”, “ Happiness is a butterfly”, the cover “Doin’ Time”, “Hope Is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have – but I Have It”, and very very very specially “Venice B!tch”, made this very cohesive album, very special to me and to many many people who still consider this, Lana's best album so far.In this episode I start talking about the glorius days of the platform Tumblr, in which singers like Marina and the Diamonds, and Lana del Rey were the absolute queens. I tell my audience the entire story of my relationship with Lana's music. And I get deep into analyzing the music and lyrics of my favorite song on the album: Venice B!tch. In which the electric guitars are especially electrifying. At the end of the episode, I also talk about my experience growing up as a gay man in Latin America in the 1990s, and the reason why all of the anti-Drag Queen, anti-LBGTQ+ speeches that we are listening to, everyday, sadden and worry me so deeply.Follow this podcast on social media:Tik Tok: @judasofdisturbiaYoutube: @judasofdisturbia Read my book here (Free): BETA MALE: FULL MOON LONELINESSMusic Credits:Music by ComaStudio from Pixabay.Music by jonahb on Pixabay.

My “Daisy Jones & The Six” Rock Thesis #22

In this episode I am talking about the novel "Daisy Jones and The Six", about a legendary rock band (The Six) which had a short but intense success with the 2 albums they were able to release before the dynamic of the band exploded. And here, I also talk about the show that will premiere today on Amazon Prime, about the storyline of the book, with the same name and produced by actress and producer Reese Witherspoon. This is an extended book review in which I present my thesis of how this book is a tale of dysfunctional families, and how, according to my theory, the legendary romance between Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) and Daisy Jones (Riley Keough -Elvis Presley's granddaughter) was only platonic.Apart from making a sum up of the book and reviewing it, I also criticize some of the decisions the production of the show took while producing it, and I especially and openly talk about my disappointment because they decided to take The Six's bassist Pete Loving out of the story. This episode is dedicated to the memory of Lisa Marie Presley, mother of Riley.Follow this podcast on social media:Tik Tok: @judasofdisturbiaYoutube: @judasofdisturbia Read my book here (Free): BETA MALE: FULL MOON LONELINESSMusic Credits:Music by ComaStudio from Pixabay.Music by jonahb on Pixabay.

I Worship Madonna: My Rituals + Her First Rolling Stone Cover (Part 3) #21

Madonna’s First Rolling Stone Cover - Part 3This episode is part 3 of this series in which I am talking about Madonna post the release of her debut album: “Madonna”, and just before the release of her second album: “Like a Virgin”, and everything she talked about in the interview that she gave to Chris Connelly at this time, and that would become the first time she was on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. In this one I get deep into Madonna’s relationship with Dan and Ed Gilroy. From her romantic relationship with Dan, to the forming of The Breakfast Club Band, and how and why she got out of it. How she left Queens and went back to Manhattan to form another band that at the time was named: “Emmy and the Emmys”. Madonna’s relationship with certain members of several Post-New Wave rock bands like Nervus Rex, the Dance and the System. And how, at some point, they all lived together at The Music Building in New York City.I am also talking about The Queen of Pop’s third band: Madonna. And how that one didn’t work either. To then, explore the story of how Madonna was discovered by Mark Kamins at the legendary New York disco: Danceteria. Her nights at The Roxy. Her relationship with Jellybean Benitez, who she met at The Fun House disco. And how her debut album ended up being produced by Reggie Lucas. But this episode in special, tells the story of the movie-like and fascinating relationship and artistic collaboration of Madonna and Steve Bray and how they were always there for each other artistically. And, of course, how their relationship broke, got fixed, broke again, got fixed again, and so on.Here is a link to the article I’m talking about in this episode:Madonna Goes All The Way.These are the links to a couple of videos I make reference to in this episode:Madonna’s speech at the 30th Glaad Media Awards.Christopher Flynn talking about Madonna.Follow this podcast on social media:Tik Tok: @judasofdisturbiaYoutube: @judasofdisturbia Read my book here (Free): BETA MALE: FULL MOON LONELINESSMusic Credits:Music by ComaStudio from Pixabay.Music by jonahb on Pixabay.

Madonna’s Unholy Words + Her First Rolling Stone Cover (Part 2) #20

Madonna’s First Rolling Stone Cover - Part 2In this episode I start by talking about Madonna’s scholarship and period at the University of Michigan, her nights dancing at the Blue Frogge, a bar on campus, to the disco hits of the era at the times in which John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever was a smash. I also talk about the day she met Stephen -or Steve- Bray, a waiter that was going to change her life, and that, many years after meeting Madonna, would become a Grammy Winner himself for his work in the revival of the Broadway Musical The Color Purple.I also talk about Dan and Ed Gilroy, who would later be a part of the band “The Breakfast Club” with Madonna, and at some point also with Steve Bray. The time Madonna spent at the abandoned synagogue the brothers rented in Queens, New York and the time Madonna left New York to go to Paris to be a part of the Patrick Hernandez Tour, the time the legendary “Born to be Alive” became a hit. All the ballet companies Madonna was a part of when she got to New York are also mentioned in this episode, and how she transitioned from dancer to singer, to then started learning how to play musical instruments. The participation of Madonna at the Grammys 2023 is also mentioned here. I start by sharing her words when presenting the controversial performance of “Unholy” by Sam Smith and Kim Petras, and their historic Grammy win.Follow this podcast on social media:Tik Tok: @judasofdisturbiaYoutube: @judasofdisturbia Read my book here (Free): BETA MALE: FULL MOON LONELINESSMusic Credits:Music by ComaStudio from Pixabay.Music by jonahb on Pixabay.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono at the West Village #18

At the beginning of the 1970s, John Lennon, member of the legendary English rock band The Beatles, and his wife, Japanese artist Yoko Ono, moved indefinitely to New York. They rented a studio in the West Village to live, and a loft to work in SoHo. 6 months after that, Hendrik Hertzberg, a journalist from The New Yorker magazine, visited them at their studio to interview them. The interview, in which he describes their cluttered apartment in a way that makes you think of a stage for a couple of legendary artists, was published on January 8, 1972.In this episode, I read this interview with/to my audience, and it serves as a basis to talk about many topics (some of them very controversial), such as slavery, racism, homophobia, Cuba's political situation, nudism, and a life unattached to possessions, valuing more feelings as love and freedom.Follow this podcast on social media:Tik Tok: @judasofdisturbiaYoutube: @judasofdisturbia Read my book here (Free): BETA MALE: FULL MOON LONELINESSMusic Credits:Music by ComaStudio from Pixabay.Music by jonahb on Pixabay.

Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991) - Recap and Review - Part 1 #14

This episode is the first part of my recap and review of the 1991 documentary Madonna: Truth or Dare, directed by Alek Keshishian, and which chronicles the fascinating world which developed in the backstage of the Blonde Ambition world tour of 1990, which took Madonna from superstar to megastar and pop culture icon. Here I am talking about the aesthetic, the cinematography, and analyzing the storyline of this documentary and how it came to be. I am also talking about Madonna's relationship and breakup with actor Warren Beatty, who she started dating after they worked together on the movie Dick Tracy, after Madonna's divorce from actor Sean Penn.I also talk about some of the most important shows on the Blonde Ambition tour, as portrayed in this documentary. Like, for example, the shows in Los Angeles, and especially the ones in Detroit, which were so important for the singer, and how her relationship with her family during this stay back home is portrayed in this documentary. But very especially, I am talking in detail about the relationship between Madonna and the iconic vogue dancers of her tour: Oliver Crumes Jr., Carlton Wilborn, Luis Camacho (from the legendary ballroom house of Xtravaganza), Salim Gauwloos, Kevin Stea, Gabriel Trupin (who passed away in 1995), and Jose Gutierez (also from the iconic ballroom house of Xtravaganza), during and after their collaboration. And also about the relationship of these dancers with each other and how their stories were portrayed in this particular movie.Topics like homophobia and the white savior narrative are also explored in this episode.Spoilers of this documentary are all over this episode.Follow this podcast on social media:Tik Tok: @judasofdisturbiaYoutube: @judasofdisturbia Read my book here (Free): BETA MALE: FULL MOON LONELINESSMusic Credits:Music by ComaStudio from Pixabay.Music by jonahb on Pixabay.

Thanks Jinkx Monsoon #13

In this episode I am giving my opinion on pretty recent controversial, hurtful and concerning topics for the LGBTQ+ community, such as the Colorado crimes and the narrative of actress Candace Cameron Bure.I 100% disagree with Candace. Us, gay men, and our families are not a danger to society. We are part of American values. However, I am also talking about good stuff. Like my family's thanksgiving, the welcoming of a baby, which means hope, and also the casting of drag queen Jinkx Monsoon for the Chicago musical on Broadway.Don't forget to add my podcast to your favorite ones on every platform possible! Madonna, The Blonde Ambition World Tour (1990) #12

In 1990, Madonna's Blonde Ambition world tour took the Michigan-born performer from pop stardom to mega stardom and she became the queen of pop.The show was a theater play which, using the music of Madonna (especially from the albums "Like a Prayer" and "I'm Breathless") told the story of a girl that is not necessarily Madonna, and at the same time, can represent many of us.Performances of songs like: "Express Yourself", “Vogue”, "Like a Virgin", "Like a Prayer", "Material Girl" and "Keep It Together", made this tour an iconic and unforgettable one. A tour we are still talking about. The professionalism and talent of a young Madonna, and the support and creativity of people like her brother Christopher Ciccone, and designer Jean Paul Gaultier, would also be key pieces to the success of this legendary tour.Today I am talking about this tour. The next episode will be about "Madonna: Truth or Dare", a documentary from 1991 (directed by Alek Keshishian) that chronicles the fascinating family which generated backstage. Follow this podcast on social media:Tik Tok: @judasofdisturbiaYoutube: @judasofdisturbia Read my book here (Free): BETA MALE: FULL MOON LONELINESSMusic Credits:Music by ComaStudio from Pixabay.Music by jonahb on Pixabay.

Courtney Love is a poet #10

This episode is about musician and pop culture icon Courtney Love, lead singer of the grunge band: Hole. Here I talk a little bit about her relationship with grunge icon, Kurt Cobain, lead singer of the legendary band Nirvana. Also, about the sad way this story ended. And the way that Courtney Love reacted. Her pain, her struggles, and her wild tour. I mention their daughter Frances Bean Cobain also, but I try to keep the story around Courtney herself.I also talk slightly about the story of her band, Hole. And I react to some of their lyrics, which I consider poetry. This is not a biography of Courtney. These are some episodes of her life and anecdotes as told by herself in a couple of interviews with MTV's Kurt Loder, and also an interview with Barbara Walters in which she opens up about her guilt for what happened to her husband. My idea is to tell this story from Courtney's point of view, her own narrative. In this episode I also give my opinion on the horrible incident with Madonna at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1995. When both singers were disrespectfully exposed by the staff, in my opinion. This content is for adults only.Today's music is by jonahb on Pixabay. We own a haunted cattle ranch with a haunted house - My Own Creepypasta - Halloween #9

Eighteen years before I was born, my mother's family purchased a thirty acre ranch in Latin America with two houses on the property and they moved there, to raise cattle and horses. This place would become the place for all of my uncles and aunts, and then my cousins, my sister, me, and the whole family, to grow up. In this place we would play, become close with family members, explore for hours and have direct contact with nature and with animals, and learn how to be as respectful as possible to them. This was a place where we had a lot of fun.But this was also the place where we all listened to our first horror story, where we all lived something creepy and weird. And where witches, shadows, and demons would thrive. In this episode, my Halloween special, I am telling you a personal scary story of how my grandparents' house seamed to be a haunted house where we all grew up .
