Junk Food Dinner returns for our annual holiday celebration and this year we're feeling particularly nostalgic! Up first, The Muppets gang crashes at Fozzy's mom's house for the holidays and they're bringing all their friends, even the Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock crew, in the 1987 TV special A Muppet Family Christmas. Then, we revisit one of Sean's favorite holiday traditions; we see what movies and electronics film critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert were recommending folks pick up in the Siskel and Ebert's 1990 Holiday Video Gift Guide! And finally, in the summer of 1992, one of biggest films was the blockbuster sequel Batman Returns. Tim Burton and Michael Keaton returned but this time Batman squares off against The Penguin (played by Danny DeVito) and Catwoman (played by Michelle Pfeiffer). But is it a Christmas movie? You bet your Batmobile it is! All this plus holiday cheer from our buddy Peter, tributes to some fallen heroes, Sean's epic new video mix tape and much more!LISTEN NOW:MP3 Direct DonloydAlso, if you like the show, please take a minute and subscribe and/or comment on us on iTunes, Stitcher, Blubrry or Podfeed.net. JFS100: Body Double

2025-11-2202:20:151

It's a celebration! Parker and Sean celebrate 100 episodes of Junk Food Supper by doing an audio commentary for a beloved classic -- Brian De Palma's "Body Double" from 1984. Grab your VHS tape or find it on streaming and cue it up with this episode to feel like you're watching the movie with Sean and Parker in the room with you! Or don't do that and just listen to it as-is. It'll actually probably make sense that way, too. Or just listen to it while playing Elden Ring or something. Direct Donloyd Here After the episode, join the Patreon or the Discord channel. Or both!
Our adventures in film review webcasts continue with our look at On Cinema at the Cinema, Seasons 1 and 2 (from 2012-13)! It's a comedic riff on Siskel and Ebert from Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington. But will Parker Bowman, noted Tim skeptic, give it five bags of popcorn? Or only four? Also! We chat about the good/bad/ugly movies that Tim and Gregg reviewed over a decade ago! So #DonloydNow and enjoy this bite-sized Junk Food Supper. We got all this plus Parker's Survival Status vs his Thriving Rate, faintly sweet memories of a sticker (puffed), struggles to sleep while the rooster crows, Sean Byron's patented Star Trek Chats segment, the amazing directorial career of the director of the sequel to RZA's Man with the Iron Fists movie, sneezes, blank stares, gleeks and so much more!! Then it's wading through a lake of shit in the December Movie Preview. Then, they review the new movie by one of Sean's favorite directors and a director that Parker knows almost nothing about. We'll spoil it so beware. All this plus voicemails, chit chat and so much more! Donloyd Here!! After the episode, join the discord or the Patreon to support us!

This month, the JFD gang pays tribute to Christopher Guest with a trio of flicks that feature some level of his involvement. Up first! We were shocked to discover our baby boy Bowman hadn't seen 1984's Spinal Tap, but now he has. Did he like it, though? Next up! We stretch the definition of "involvement" with Mary Tyler Moore's television variety special called How to Survive the 70s and Maybe Even Bump Into Happiness, (from 1978). He's sort of in it, but barely. Finally! Of course, it's 1993's Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman, because he directed it, and that's the only movie he directed that we've heard of. All this plus a traumatic treat-based trick, a cinci cult film screening update, a juggalo gathering update, fourth dimension theatrical exhibitions, the smells of vienna austria, an official update on Kevin's all-important filing status, is free speech overrated?, nerd news and even more! It's not exactly a Niku Daruma, but it's close! Sean and Parker return to discuss some weird things this week. First, it's hate-watching Bill Maher and youtubers and Parker went to see "Weapons." After that, Sean introduces a new game show. Is it "Mike" or "Psych" as Parker is quizzed on how well he knows everyone's favorite Japanese director, Rikishi Mike. Then, the guys discuss the less successful director, Takashi Miike, and his 2014 film, "As the Gods Will." The movie, based on a manga, as is pretty common, features a violent daruma doll, bored gods and a very violent day at school. I have no issue with anyone disliking a British film but to say it is too British when reviewing it is ridiculous. As for the discussion on the use of English in a British film... Bunch of idiots!!! I will not listen again

Great podcast with lots of laughs, horror history and bizarre movies you'd never hear about in most circles. Episodes are lengthy and listening feels like you're just hanging out with some friends.
