Gaby and Allison give a listener advice about battling imposter syndrome in the male-dominated field of quantitative finance. They then have a delightful discussion with Allison’s former middle school music teacher Mirna Valerio, who has since become a FAMOUS RUNNER due to her blog Fat Girl Running. Hold onto your butts, this one is a wild ride! Allison and Gaby start off by answering a listener’s question about people making assumptions that she is gay when she identies as straight. Gaby’s partner, Mal Blum, also pops in to help by sharing their similar personal experience! They’re then joined by podcaster Angela Tucker to discuss transracial adoption and why we might need to rethink hypotheticals. And finally, trust! Followed by Allison sobbing. We told you it was a wild ride! (tw: mentions of sexual assault, family trauma and triggering) See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Gaby and Allison give advice to a listener newly diagnosed with bipolar disorder that worries about disclosing it to the people in their life. (Omg!!! So exciting!!) Lastly, cognitive dissonance. What is it and how is it affecting the election? Also, promote this on your YouTube channel more please! I didnt find out about it until a year later when it was casually mentioned on the YouTube channel. I don't have other socials and I'm sure some other youtube subscribers don't either so it may help! also, maybe that algorithm would pick it up and reach a new viewer base!!!

So I cant figure out how to leave a review but 5 stars!!! love the podcast, Allison is hilarious and the game show portion is my favorite! I legitimately hope she turns it into a card game some day where you take turns drawing hypothetical cards and then all the players have a handful of cards that finish the hypothetical. Then the person who drew the hypothetical gets to choose their favorite answer! just an idea, I'm sure if it turns into a game Allison will figure out a great way to do it and i would buy it, gift it to friends and family, hypothetically, it would be great! Oh, and Gabbie's cool too.

I had really high hopes for a whole polyamory-focused segment, but was actually disappointed by the normalization of hierarchy anf implication that having "primaries" was the only way to do things. Also disappointing that listeners should get the impression that polyamory is incompatible with marriage, long'term commitment, and children. (I say as someone who is 30, been with my spouse 12 years, have anoher partner of 5 whom I consider family, and a toddler). I totally understand that your choice of interviewees influences the flow of topics - and absolutely nothing against your rad guest! But it would have been valuable to provide some balancing anecdotes or information, as this might very well be many listeners' first exposure to the topic by people who are actually knowledgeable on it.

I think on the "bad juju" thing if you never admit the bad thing is likely to happen you could end up leading to other people becoming complacent if they believe you. Thanks for another excellent show!!!

My favorite reply to the "its confusing to me" referring to the similar they is 'you don't have a problem using the singular they when you're lying to your girl about who you're hanging out with' 😂 but also super very excited to learn about how language, grammar and culture happen at the same time and evolve with one another.

For the most part I enjoy this podcast but lately it seems like Allison always has something mean to say to Gabi or spends a lot of time picking on her. I never watched their YouTube show so it could be their dynamic but Ive had to stop listening a few times now because it's just irritating. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Be nice to your friend, you're starting to sound like an asshole.
