Ben Schettler is the founder and director of The Center for Truth in Love. You should hear his account of a lady who perfectly illustrates the craziness of our times as well as his answer to what makes him think any of this is worthwhile. www.thecenterfortruthinlove.org for more info.
Pastor Tim Ruhl has been the pastor at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Chico, CA, for over three decades. He is known as a dynamic preacher, particularly to teenagers. I had the privilege to sit down with him for a short interview, and I know it will be an encouragement to you. He had an opportunity to become bitter over some violent circumstances in his life, but he chose to become better instead.
Welcome back! I hope tonight's episode will be a real encouragement to you.
Welcome back to another night of singing hymns from the hymnbook! I've really been enjoying these times and I hope it is the same for you. Send any requests you have to ben@beneverson.com and I'll add them to the list.
We're changing things up a little this year to help encourage people! For the foreseeable future, I'll be live streaming a Sunday night time of worship through music. Each Monday, I'll post the stream here as an episode. Our songs include: I Will Sing of My Redeemer, In Christ Alone, I Want to Be Faithful, Fill My Cup, The Light of the World, and Hallelujah! What a Savior. You can send me requests to put on the list for the next episode.  May this be a real encouragement to you!
What happens when a pastor gets burdened for Bible translation to unreached people groups?
I'm revisiting a conversation I had with Ron "Patch the Pirate" Hamilton back in 2010. It ranges from lyric-writing to how to handle criticism.
Dr. Frank Garlock drops by the podcast for a free-wheeling discussion on mentoring, criticism, and what it means to be a servant.
Start here. This is vitally important!

Let's counter the misuse of this verse with what the Bible actually says.
Here are some thoughts on this oft-cited passage.

Time to use another verse out of context to build that building!
There's really a pretty straightforward answer.
It's that time of year when Jeremiah gets taken out of context.
Are we breaking one of the Ten Commandments if we don't worship on Saturday?
This lady took the Gospel to one of the most dangerous and perilous regions of the world -- a region inhabited by cannibals and headhunters who were without hesitation brutally torturing, killing, and eating anyone who came to their land. Yet, as others were leaving because of this unleashed danger and cannibalistic terror, Margaret Stringer was arriving. For 40 years, she served the Lord in this way. You'll be blessed as you listen!

Growing up in a Christian home. Growing up as the son of Patch the Pirate. How was it great? How was it difficult? Time spent away from the Lord and time spent growing in Christ. Join me as I chat with my friend Jason Hamilton.
One of the top 3 most influential groups that formed my harmonic tastes was a group called Outreach Quartet. Peter Wright, the arranger and baritone singer for the group joins me on this episode as we "nerd out" a little bit on music, but also touch on some other topics that I think you'll find interesting. I interspersed this episode with some musical examples of his arranging.
