Memory Keepers and Storytellers are such an important part of our history…..from our grandparents recounting stories of their lives and our parent's lives to local town historians who collect the memories of our community for future generations.  Today's guest is a champion of history in her home town of Beacon, NY   - - Denise VanBuren grew up as a beauty queen in upstate NY, a TV News Anchor, Vice President at Central Hudson Gas and Electric, and is currently and the President General of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution… She co-wrote two historical accounts of Beacon New York with historian Bob Murphy.  Her latest release is an anthology account of 38 years of Bob's monthly newsletters.

Since 2015, the SSG Alex Viola Memorial Foundation has donated thousands of dollars to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and the Green Beret Foundation through proceeds generated from an annual Texas car show.    Even though Covid-19 has prevented the Viola family from hosting over 400 cars and thousands of spectators this year, the family is still working hard to generate thousands of dollars in the name of their son and brother who was killed in Afganistan on November 17, 2013.

I received a letter from the " Benefits Suspension Unit of the Public Judgement Records Department claiming that I owed $24, 431 dollars to the IRS!  After my accountant checked it out and told me it was a scam, I thought I would call and see what their game was.  What transpired on the call is something everyone should be aware of.

Long before session guitarist and composer Gene Moore met Ace Frehley, the lead guitarist for the rock band Kiss was Gene's idol.  At 14, Gene was just learning guitar by listening to Ace Frehley's guitar licks on some of those iconic Kiss songs of the 70's.  Fast forward about 15 years and, as fate would have it, Moore was hired for a recording session and Ace Frehley was helping produce the project.  The two met and Ace complimented Gene on his playing. The rock idol invited the long time fan to the house.  The two jammed a bit and Frehley asked Gene if he wanted to write together and gave Moore a cassette with some rough sketches of song ideas.  Gene took a raw eight-measure riff he heard on that cassette and turned it into the hit song "Insane".   A few days after Gene created the song,  laid all the tracks down including vocals and song structure, the two reviewed the song back at Frehley's house.  That was the last Gene heard of the song, or from Ace,  until a couple of years later, at 3 a.m. when MTV was playing Ace Frehley's new music video release, entitled "Insane".   But the story doesn't end there.....
