Tying Up Loose Ends: Part 1

2018-01-2001:01:08

We got Carina Ice, Hau Chu and Suhaib Khan together on the same episode where we talked about food (a lot of talk about food), cultural superstitions, traditional items on the dinner table (again, food), not going to a movie theatre as a child, what time you eat dinner (more food talk) among other topics! As we wrapped up Season 1, we found that we loved so many of our guests from their individual episodes so much that we decided to bring them together! This three part series is called "Tying Up Loose Ends"-- pretty self explanatory. We get a couple guests together to talk about what makes them different (in terms of their cultures, traditions, religions, etc.) but then find a couple things that are similar.
We talked about week-long elaborate Pakistani weddings, Noble Prize-winning 20-something Malala Yousafzai, comparing Pakistani and India food, and other topics when we sat down with Pakistani-American Suhaib Khan in our last episode of season 1!
We talk about the world's best falafel, the correct way to say Palestine and what the decades-long conflict is all about with Jordanian-Palestinian-American Razan Azzarkani in our newest episode of Just to Clarify.
We talk about Russian spies, "the" Ukraine and Mila Kunis with our Ukrainian-Russian-Jewish friend Alec Lyubomirsky in this newest episode of Just to Clarify.
We talk about intense rugby traditions, getting into bar fights and living in what basically is The Shire in this episode on New Zealand with our guest kiwi, Elliot Rysenbry.
We talk about jollof rice, highlife music and the beautiful Idris Elba in this episode on Ghana with Jemima Homawoo.
We talk stinky fruit, censorship laws and the mystery of Malaysian Airlines flight 370 in this episode of Just to Clarify with Malaysian-American Carina Ice.
We talk pho, Asian stereotypes and the Vietnamese-American community in this episode of Just to Clarify!
We talk pupusas, coffee, Catholic voodoo and gangs in our second episode looking into the community of Salvadorians in D.C.
We talk food, poverty, education and Gandhi in our first episode exploring what it means to be Indian in America.
