Spring Break and Human Trafficking
Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas, Inc. (BGCTX) proudly serve 21,000 youth annually and 3,200 youth per day in 28 Club sites throughout the region.The BGCTX Family of Clubs Include: Boys & Girls Club of Lampasas, Boys & Girls Club of Gatesville, Boys & Girls Clubs of Copperas Cove, Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown, Boys & Girls Club of East Williamson County, Boys & Girls Club of Falls County, and Clements Boys & Girls Clubs.
We sit down with Mayor Debbie Nash-King of Killeen, Texas on the second Monday of each month at 8:30am on KNCT.
This month, however, we decided to get together a week early so we could highlight the Veterans Day activities happening the first week of November, including Killeen's Veterans Day parade on the 11th.

In this episode, Laury sits down with Daniel Garcia and Jocelyn Larkin from Central Texas College's Continuing Education department. Topics include CPR and Pharmacy Technician classes, Crochet and Salsa instruction, and Aqua Boot Camp.
Continuing Education courses cover a variety of subjects and offer alternative opportunities to individuals seeking non-traditional educational experiences. These courses are open to interested persons without regard to eligibility for admission to college-credit programs.
Continuing Education programs at Central Texas College have been designed to provide opportunities for learning new skills for employment or to upgrade present skills. CTC offers programs sanctioned by appropriate state and national associations and state licensure boards. Education programs can be tailor-made and, if desired, offered in-house to meet specific job upgrading and mobility needs of individual organizations. In addition to job-related education Central Texas College’s Continuing Education department offers courses that foster personal growth and enrichment.
Continuing Education can teach one of our existing classes just for your business at your location or on our campus. We can also develop training for your business. Take advantage of our customized training service by working with us to develop programs tailored to the content, schedule and location requirements of your specific business. La Toya Abram-Payton
Over the years, we have had conversations with close to a hundred authors, but this interview is historic because for the first time, I am in the same room as the author I am talking to. She is a kindergarten teacher, an entrepreneur, an author, and just an all around fascinating friend, La Toya Abram-Payton.
La Toya Abram-Payton started her educational career at Nash Community College and received a dual degree-Associates in Arts/Education. She then attended Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina, where she received a Bachelors in Social Work. She then attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and received her Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling. She is licensed in Birth -Kindergarten and taught kindergarten for five years.

News from Texas Parks and Wildlife
This week, a federal grand jury returned indictments charging six Cuban nationals from Houston with illegal trafficking of migratory songbirds, violating the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Lacey Act. The joint investigation led by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Office of Law Enforcement Special Agents and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Texas Game Wardens led to the seizure of more than 300 illegally trapped songbirds.

The League of Women Voters was founded in February of 1919, more than a year before the 19th Amendment was certified. Over one hundred years later, this organization continues to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented. Through advocacy, education, and litigation at the local, state, and national levels, they empower voters and defend democracy.
In our local area, the League of Women Voters of Bell County works to protect and expand our voting rights. This week, Irene Andrews stopped by to talk to Laury Sisko about ways you can get involved.
