Episode #0510! The extended Kanzenshuu family and friend community comes together to share their memories of, gratitude toward, and the impact of Akira Toriyama.
Episode #0509! Mike, Ken, and Randy return once again to "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" to review its sixth paid downloadable content pack, this time covering the 28th Tenka'ichi Budōkai... and beyond! For once in this franchise's storied history, we finally hit "End of Z" in another medium... but what does this time period hold for us in terms of gameplay and storytelling, and what does "Kakarot" offer us here in a now-seemingly-complete package?
Episode #0508! Mike brings on Ken and Ajay for an all-Daima extravaganza! We break down all the scenes in the debut Dragon Ball Daima trailer, trying to figure out who all is involved and what Toriyama may have in store for us, as well as dive into all the currently-announced production staff. We're still a long ways off from actually seeing the show, but they certainly have our interest at this early stage!
Episode #0507! From the depths of the archives, we managed to rescue an unreleased goodie: the next installment in our "Dragon Ball GT Review of Awesomeness"...! Mike, Meri, and Jeff dive into episodes 36-40 to wrap up the Baby arc in this podcast episode that was definitely recorded back in August 2018.
Episode #0506! We continue a brand new interview series talking with the staff members of Kanzenshuu itself! Heath is up next, so strap in for a trip back to the early days of fansites, launching a new one in 2005, combining sites in 2012, how we collaboratively work on everything together, and much more!
Episode #0505! Mike, Ken, and Randy return once again to "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" to review its fifth paid downloadable content pack, this time covering the 23rd Tenka'ichi Budōkai. Switching things up with ground-based battles and a rigid tournament structure, how does it fare compared to previous DLC releases, and what else might be on the horizon for this game?
Episode #0504! Mike and Ken journey through the biggest hoaxes in modern Dragon Ball history. From fanart that escaped the clutches of its original artists, to purposeful (and sometimes long-term) bits of misinformation, we've seen it all! How well do some of these hoaxes hold up, and what will it take in the future to live up to their legacy?
Episode #0503! We start a brand new interview series talking with the staff members of Kanzenshuu itself! Julian is up first, so strap in for a trip back to 2002 as we prep the Daizenshuu EX relaunch and start honing those translation skills. We apparently recorded this episode five years ago, but it seems the more things change, the more they stay the same!
Episode #0502! Following up on last episode's ten-year retrospective for the film version of "Battle of Gods": Mike, Heath, and Ken re-review the initial four chapters of the "Dragon Ball Super" manga adapting the "Battle of Gods" arc... as well as the "Dragon Ball SD" manga adaptation by Naho Ooishi... as well as the "Victory Mission in Battle of Gods" special comic by Toyotaro!
Episode #0501! Mike, Ajay, and Tyson look back at the 2013 theatrical film "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods" with (somehow!) both a retrospective critical eye and a fresh perspective. Ten years removed and with multiple adaptations behind us, how does the original film version of the story hold up? What precedents did it set for the next decade, and what has the rest of the franchise still failed to recapture in all that time?
Episode #0500! We are celebrating five hundred podcast episodes! Join us for a journey from the first episode back in 2005 through today's shenanigans. All the best in-jokes, all the best discussions... and a lot more. Also: we occasionally talk about Dragon Ball.
Episode #0499! Mike shares his Official Top Ten Dragon Ball Video Games with Kirran! With decades worth of bangers behind us and a widely-anticipated new game on the horizon, it seemed like the perfect time to purposefully get folks yelling back at their transistor radio speakers about us "forgetting" certain games! No, we didn't forget! We just like different things!
Episode #0498! Mike and Heath discuss some of the biggest (non-strength-related!) rumors and misunderstandings in general Dragon Ball fandom. From the classic "ending with Freeza" to recent confusion over the authorship of the Dragon Ball Super manga, we bring the receipts!
Episode #0497! Mike, Ken, and Randy reconvene once again to review the "Bardock: Alone Against Fate" DLC pack for "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot"! How does the second season pass kick things off this time around, and how does it compare to content from the first season pass?
Episode #0496! Mike and Ken look ahead to the rest of 2023 for the Dragon Ball franchise. What do we know is on the horizon, and how do we think several of the ongoing productions we DO know about will shake out? Tune in for our thoughts, as well as our reactions to YOUR thoughts!
Episode #0495! Mike and Ken return once last time to the "Granolla the Survivor" arc of the "Dragon Ball Super" manga... this time to respond to YOUR thoughts on the arc! What did you all think of the plot twists and turns, the flashback material, the transformations, and more?
Episode #0494! Mike brings on Ken and Ian to review the latest arc of the "Dragon Ball Super" manga, Granolla the Survivor! How does the second manga-exclusive arc stack up against not only the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc with Moro, but the rest of the series as a whole? Where do we go from here?! Tune in for all this and more!
Episode #0493! Mike brings on Julian and Ian to review the new theatrical film, "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero"! Tune in for all the details on the Japanese theater experience, how the new visual style brings the franchise to life, and more! Tiptoe around things with us for the first half, and then stick around into the second half for all the spoiler-filled discussions you can eat!
On this episode of Manga Mavericks, Colton and Lum are joined by Mike (VegettoEX), one of the founders of the biggest Dragon Ball fansite on the internet, Kanzenshuu, as well as Darren Vogt, artist extraordinaire and one of the hosts of the Comics on the Spot podcast, to discuss Akira Toriyama's Manga Theater! A collection of comics from Akira Toriyama spanning across multiple decades of his career from before the start of Dr Slump to near the end of Dragon Ball! Toriyama is one of our favorite manga artists of all time, so there was no way we wouldn't cover more of his comics at some point, especially with a new collection of his stories that have never been released before officially in English until recently! We cover this collection of over 20 stories as exhaustively as possible, as Mike provides a lot of much needed context for the publication of a lot of them and pinpoint where Toriyama was in his career at the time of each of them, while Darren provides his perspective as a fellow artist and what makes Toriyama's comics craft so interesting even as far back as his pre-Dr Slump days! Join us as we rediscover our love of Toriyama's works and reevaluate why he's simply one of the best at what he does!
You ever heard of the lost OVA of the Dragon Ball Z series? Well, there's a lot more to it than that, so Randy and Doug brought on Mike, VegettoEX, to teach us a thing or two about an NES game, VHS tapes, a 1990's Bandai CDROM console, and a PS3/Xbox360 game to give us the whole story!
