On Schedule is the series where Dave McCoid, editorial director at New Zealand Trucking Media, speaks with the National Road Carriers senior team and guests on a broad selection of topical industry subjects as well as the work the association does – the wins, the challenges, and the strategies taken on key issues of the day. This month, Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail. CEO of National Road Carriers, Justin Tighe-Umbers and host Dave McCoid sit down with Geoff Cooper, chief executive of the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission  Te Waihanga. The commission's 30-year National Infrastructure Plan released earlier this year painted a clear picture allowing us to align ambition with actual ability. This is a discussion no one should miss. In the OEM update, we talk with a broad cross section of original equipment suppliers to the New Zealand industry. Jon Doyle is general manager at Christchurch trailer builder Adams and Currie. In its 50th year, the Canterbury enterprise is today part of the Fruehauf NZ operations. Jon is always good for an upbeat and engaging chat.  We need to find out more about the new world heading our way. Powering On talks to people in the know and those who have already headed off on a new propulsion journey. We aim to make it not too techy, delivering useful information for those responsible for delivering our new tomorrow. This month we chat with Aaron Gillan, Divisional Manager at YHI New Zealand. A long standing name in the energy capture, storage, and discharge space, Aaron gives a wonderful insight into key requirements when embarking on an alternative energy journey, as well as what to watch out for.  Clear the Air is the section where co-host Dave McCoid and his good mate and Environmental champion Lindsay Wood discuss the climate and envirionmental issues of the day, as they should be discussed - respectfully! This month Lindsay and Dave chat about Dave's recent editorial on vulnerable road users, and who actually comprise that social sub-set, as well as investigating the concept of a transport ecosystem.
The intellectual might of New Zealand Trucking Media brings all they have to the table in a post-workday chat at their local. Sometimes they convince some poor unfortunate soul to join them. The result is more often than not...concerning. This month, the lads are back to amusing themselves, and hopefully you too with some nonsense, common sense, incredible sense, and reminiscence.
Gary Bone was raised in grassroots rural Victora, workng through the automotive trade, eventually holding some senior positions at the likes of Volvo Group Australia and Chesterfield Australia Pty Ltd. Just under two years ago he came out of a break away to join Penske Australia and New Zealand, and in April this year he took on the Executive General Manager On-Highway role. Dave sat down for a chat about how he intends tackling one of the true opportunities in Australian heavy vehicle supply and sales. In the OEM update, we talk with a broad cross section of original equipment suppliers to the New Zealand industry. This month it's cornerstone trailer building in New Zealand, and it does not  come any more cornerstone than Patchell Group. Dave caught up with Sales and Marketing manager Glen Heybourn for a truly entertaining chat with a true grassroots, Kiwi, truck guy. We need to find out more about the new world heading our way. Powering On talks to people in the know and those who have already headed off on a new propulsion journey. We aim to make it not too techy, delivering useful information for those who will still be responsible for delivering our new tomorrow. It's time for the next edition of TR Tomorrow with Energy and Emissions Reduction Lead at TR Group, Scott Donnelly. We update the GBV Gen 2 truck journey, chat about new and exciting things, and recap the topics to date...things llike powered axles and trailers with solar panel hats. Clear the Air is the section where co-host Dave McCoid and his good mate and Environmental champion Lindsay Wood discuss the climate and envirionmental issues of the day, as they should be discussed - respectfully! This month the hunter becomes the hunted. Dave had the priviledge of being the guest on Lindsay's own podcast Climate Matters. As Monty Python would have said back in the day..."And now for something completely different." On Schedule is the series where Dave McCoid, editorial director at New Zealand Trucking Media, speaks with the National Road Carriers senior team and guests on a broad selection of topical industry subjects as well as the work the association does – the wins, the challenges, and the strategies taken on key issues of the day. This month, Dave sits down with director of Land Transport Mike Hargreaves, and CEO of National Road Carriers Justin Tighe-Umbers. Mike was appointed to his role in February this year, taking on the role at a truly exciting and challenging time in history. In this episode, we hear first hand how he intends to approach this gargantuan task.
The intellectual might of New Zealand Trucking Media brings all they have to the table in a post-workday chat at their local. Sometimes they convince some poor unfortunate soul to join them. The result is more often than not ….. concerning. This month, vital TR Group cog and bone-deep trucking man...yes, it's none other No 1 challenger to Capt K's title as the World's Happiest Man, Mark Harvey. He's onboard amongst the Blokes Yarning lunacy as the second guest for the year. Will he survive? Or will he be lining up with Mark Amer at the PTSD clinic? It's time for a happy-off, people.
This month is a little different. Gavin Myers, editor of New Zealand Trucking magazine joins Dave McCoid for a discussion that takes in the first two industry  conferences of the season, plus they cover-off the OEM Update and Powering On courtesy of Dave's recent trip to the MAN pre-IAA press event in Germany. It's a great yarn. This year's road transport Hall of Fame function is a whole new doo, with a conference heading a solid half week of road transport discussion, activity, and celebration. We catch up with head of marketing at Transport World, Nicole Sharp to get an idea of what's in store. Clear the Air is the section where co-host Dave McCoid and his good mate and Environmental champion Lindsay Wood discuss the climate and envirionmental issues of the day, as they should be discussed - respectfully! This month, impending global food shortage, the energy crisis, and infrastructure! There's no rabbit hole Lindsay and I are afraid of! This month, it's a fascinating chat. A PhD in economics, Stuart is a senior fellow with Motu Research based in Wellington, working at the interface between economic research and public policy. This work draws on his training in economics and two decades of experience working as a consultant in Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands. His areas of expertise include spatial, urban, and transport economics, multi-modal transport planning, land use and infrastructure policy. He says he is comfortable engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including technical experts, public servants, elected representatives, media, and the general public.
